Job Description

The Assistant Principal of Operations (APO) is a key member of the school’s leadership team, responsible for implementing and maintaining clear operational systems while building a data‑driven, service‑oriented culture. The APO enables educators to focus on teaching and learning by ensuring smooth attendance, enrollment, safety, and customer service across the school.

Role Responsibilities
  • Recruit, hire, onboard, and lead a high‑performing operations team; foster an inclusive culture that maximizes each team member’s strengths.
  • Oversee attendance and enrollment: partner with families to set expectations, verify data, analyze trends, and coordinate recruitment efforts.
  • Develop and maintain school policies and procedures for arrival, dismissal, safety drills, audits, and communication with families.
  • Advise the School Leader on budgeting: provide insight into non‑personnel spending, support purchasing, and ensure account compliance.
  • Lead campus safety and maintenance: serve as safety lead, manage emergency communication, and coordinate with Facilities, Transportation, Nutrition, and IT teams.
  • Maintain a respectful, harmonious work environment and represent the school in the regional community.
Qualifications
  • 4‑5 years of related work experience, with at least 3 years in operations or education.
  • Preferred experience in people management and bilingual English/Spanish skills.
  • Strong people‑management, project and time‑management, strategic and analytical abilities.
  • Proven ability to lead, influence, and hold others accountable to high standards of operational excellence.
  • Excellent communication skills, urgency, and a customer‑service mindset.
  • Strong adaptability to shift from troubleshooting to systems building, with calmness under pressure.
Physical Requirements
  • Move about inside and outside the school during the workday.
  • Attend conferences, meetings, and training sessions both virtually and in person within the region.
  • Reliable transportation for campus travel.
Work Environment & Travel Requirements
  • Reports to the school site Monday‑Friday; typical school environment with frequent interruptions.
  • Minimal travel to other school sites or regional offices for professional learning or meetings.
