Join to apply for the Assistant Principal - Elementary role at Winthrop Harbor School District 1.

Winthrop Harbor School District #1 is hiring for a Full-Time Assistant Principal at Westfield Elementary, starting on 8/4/2025.

Requirements include a valid Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with a Principal or General Administrative Endorsement.

This is a 10-month position, working one day after the teacher's last day and returning two weeks before the first day. It does not include Winter or Spring Break.

The role reports to the Principal or Principal Designee and involves fostering a positive school culture, supporting student success, and maintaining a safe and inclusive environment. Focus areas include behavior management and attendance strategies.

Responsibilities
  • Behavior Management: Develop policies, support teachers, analyze data, and implement interventions.
  • Attendance: Improve attendance, collaborate with stakeholders, analyze data, and support families.
  • Discipline and Conflict Resolution: Assist in disciplinary procedures, resolve conflicts, and promote restorative justice.
  • Student Support and Guidance: Promote social-emotional development, collaborate with support staff, and facilitate student meetings.
  • Administrative Duties: Manage daily operations, participate in meetings, and evaluate staff.
Qualifications
  • Master's degree in Education or related field.
  • Experience in educational leadership.
  • Knowledge of behavior management, attendance strategies, and restorative practices.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and data analysis skills.

Salary ranges from $75,000 to $80,000, based on experience and education, with excellent benefits including health, dental, life insurance, retirement, and tuition reimbursement.
