Job summary

Erie's Public Schools is seeking an Assistant Principal for the secondary level for a 12-month position at Collegiate. The role reports to the Dean and focuses on maintaining a safe, orderly, and productive learning environment.

The ideal candidate holds PA Certification as Secondary Principal and meets testing and clearance requirements. Responsibilities include curriculum supervision, staff collaboration, and oversight of extracurricular activities.

Qualifications

  • PA Certification as Secondary Principal is required.
  • NTE/PRAXIS test, including Specialty Test for Administrators, required.
  • FBI, Criminal Check, and Child Abuse Clearances must be current or obtained.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrated knowledge of curriculum development/supervision approved by EPS Board.
  • Knowledge of district initiatives and best practices.
  • Utilize technology including Infinite Campus and curriculum platforms.
  • Write and communicate effectively.
  • Lead teaching/learning initiatives at the secondary level.
  • Provide leadership, supervision, and managerial oversight.
  • Collaborate with the principal to supervise teachers and staff.
  • Know EPS Code of Conduct and counsel students on behavior.
  • Direct staff and students to maintain a safe, orderly learning environment.
  • Participate on committees representing the high school (e.g., SWPBIS, ILT, SAP).
  • Engage with administrators to promote teamwork and collaboration.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the high school principal.
  • Support chronically absent students and supervise extracurricular activities.
  • Employee may be required to perform other duties as requested by supervisor.

Job description

Position Title: Assistant Principal: Secondary

Term of Employment: 12 Month Position

Location: Collegiate

Salary: Per the Act 93 agreement.

Reporting Relationship: Reports to Dean.

Qualifications
  • PA Certification as Secondary Principal.
  • NTE/PRAXIS test requirement including Specialty Test for Administrators.
  • Must hold or obtain FBI, Criminal Check, and Child Abuse Clearances.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
  • Demonstrated knowledge and competency in the area of curriculum development/supervision, currently approved by EPS Board of Directors.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of current district initiatives and researched best practices.
  • Demonstrated competency in use of technology including, but not limited to, Infinite Campus and adopted curriculum platforms.
  • Demonstrated ability via computer to write and communicate effectively.
  • Demonstrated sound theoretical understanding of teaching/learning as it applies to urban education, at the secondary level.
  • Demonstrated proven leadership, supervision, and managerial skills.
  • Demonstrated success in working as a member of a team.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of EPS Code of Conduct, counseling students regarding acceptable school behavior expectations at the secondary level. Recommend appropriate, supportive action to be taken when necessary.
  • Direct the activities of the staff and students to ensure a safe, orderly, and smooth functioning environment conducive to learning.
  • Collaborate with principal to supervise and evaluate teachers, supervisors, and nonprofessional staff as assigned.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of community supports available to secondary students.
  • Serve on various committees to represent the high school at the direction of the principal. IE., SWPBIS, ILT, SAP, etc.
  • Work/meet with other administrators and staff to foster and participate in team collaboration and effectiveness.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by high school principal.
  • Experience providing support for chronically absent students.
  • Supervise extra-curricular and sporting events.
