Job summary

Veritiv Corporation in Chicago seeks a Second Press Operator to assist lead operators in the press room, perform make readies, operate press equipment, and conduct quality control to meet customer specifications.

The role requires ability to work in a fast-paced environment, read job tickets, and support team members across shifts, including nights and weekends. Physical requirements include lifting and moving heavy loads in a non-climate-controlled warehouse.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2–4 years' experience as a Second Press Operator.
• High School Diploma or GED preferred.
• Ability to read and follow job tickets and stock/color specs.
• Must be able to lift and move loads as required by press operations.

Responsibilities

• Assist Pressperson with make ready and operate press per written instructions.
• Follow SOPs and verify stock/ink matches job specs.
• Perform folder setups and maintain press register and color.
• Execute quality pull sheets, samples, and ensure production meets customer specs and deadlines.
• Follow safety policies and perform routine press maintenance as needed.

Job description

Job Purpose:

Our 2nd Pressperson will be responsible for assisting lead operators in the press room. This role will assist other operators with make readies, press equipment operations, and perform quality control functions.

Job Responsibilities:

• Ability to assist Pressperson with press make ready and operate press based upon written instructions provided.
• Follow SOP's, be able to read and understand job tickets for stock and color specifications, and verify that stock and ink match job specs on ticket.
• Perform folder set ups and maintain press register and color.
• Perform quality pull sheet procedures, pull samples, and ensure each job is produced to customer specifications, meeting internal and external deadlines.
• Follow all safety policies and regulations.
• Assist in performing routine maintenance on the press with the press team members as required.

Additional Responsibilities & Qualifications:

• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to work independently as well as with a team.
• Must be able to work nights, weekends and vacations as needed.
• Must be available to fill in for others when on vacation.

Work Experience:

• Ability to manage multiple projects, work under pressure, and adapt to sudden changes in the work environment.
• Ability to work quickly and efficiently.
• Must have a minimum of 2 to 4 years’ experience as a Second Press Operator.

Education:

High School Diploma/GED Preferred

Working Conditions:

• Regularly working in a non-climate-controlled warehouse where exposure to cold, heat, damp or humid conditions may occur.
• Exposure to loud noise.
• Exposure to dust, mechanical hazards, moving objects, and moving vehicles.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to lift, twist and carry up 50 - 75 pounds, manipulate (push and pull) up to 160 pounds of product with material handling equipment and skids weighing up to 2,000 pounds utilizing pallet jack.
• Walking/Standing - walk throughout the warehouse to complete customer orders. Stand when operating order picker or reach truck equipment and when operating cutter.
• Sitting - sit only when driving sit-down material handling equipment.
• Lifting - lift items weighing a few ounces up to 150 pounds with assistance .
• Stooping - performed when filling orders or putting away products assigned to floor level locations. May bend at the waist.
• Kneeling - kneel when filling orders or putting away products assigned to floor level locations.
