Job summary

Veritiv is seeking a Digital Lead Operator to operate and maintain digital printing equipment and support the digital press room. You will supervise staff, assist the Digital Manager, and ensure production aligns with customer specs and deadlines.

You will read job tickets, complete logs, coordinate with maintenance, and uphold safety and quality standards while interfacing with multiple departments and customers. A strong background in digital print and team leadership is required.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma/GED preferred.
• 3-5 years of related job experience.
• Ability to manage multiple projects, work under pressure, and adapt to sudden changes in the work environment.
• The ability to communicate with all levels of the organization.

Responsibilities

• Complete digital print production jobs on various types of digital printing press and cutting machines.
• Read and understand job tickets for stock and color instructions to ensure each job is produced to customer specifications, meeting internal and external deadlines.
• Complete all required production logs and documentation.
• Work with manager to interpret equipment diagnostics, troubleshoots breakdowns, and makes necessary adjustment to complete the job.
• Perform regular maintenance, cleaning, and changeovers of press from one job to another.
• Supervise daily activities of a production area to ensure that volume, cost, waste, and quality standards are achieved.
• Ensure that digital press work is properly planned and distributed, that production is achieved according to schedule, that quality standards are met, that efficient work procedures are developed and followed, and that good relations with other departments and customers are maintained.
• Help create an uncompromising culture of ‘Safety First’ incorporating shop floor organization, housekeeping and cleanliness within Digital Department.

Job Purpose

Additional Responsibilities & Qualifications

• Ability to identify problems/issues and come up with creative solutions on your own
• Experience in supervising others with ability to train and develop staff.
• Experience with Monarch and ERP software a plus.
• Bilingual English/Spanish (Written/Verbal) strongly preferred.
• Knowledge and experience operating and maintaining Vutek, Reggiani, Durst, and/or Monti machines with knowledge of Pre-Press.

Work Experience

• 3-5 years of related job experience.

Working Conditions

• Regularly working in a non-climate-controlled warehouse where exposure to cold, heat, damp or humid conditions may occur.
• Exposure to loud noise.
• Exposure to dust, mechanical hazards, moving objects, and moving vehicles.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to lift, twist and carry up 50 - 75 pounds, manipulate (push and pull) up to 160 pounds of product with material handling equipment and skids weighing up to 2,000 pounds utilizing pallet jack.
• Walking/Standing - walk throughout the warehouse to complete customer orders. Stand when operating order picker or reach truck equipment and when operating cutter.
• Sitting - sit only when driving sit-down material handling equipment.
• Lifting - lift items weighing a few ounces up to 150 pounds with assistance .
• Stooping - performed when filling orders or putting away products assigned to floor level locations. May bend at the waist.
• Kneeling - kneel when filling orders or putting away products assigned to floor level locations.
