Job summary

RR Donnelley is seeking an Assistant Press Operator to support press make ready, operation, and maintenance on sheet-fed or web offset presses. You will help set up plates, adjust components, and maintain ink systems to meet print quality specs.

Role requires attention to safety, basic maintenance skills, and at least 2 years of offset press experience. Rotating schedule, competitive hourly pay, and comprehensive benefits are provided.

Qualifications

Job Description

The Assistant Press Operator will assist Press Operators with press make ready, operating, and maintaining sheet-fed or web offset printing press.

• Inserting packing sheets on plate cylinder to build up plate to printing height, fastening reinforcing bars to offset blankets, and installing plates and blankets on press cylinders, using hand tools and power tools, to achieve pressure required for printing
• Adjusts press machine parts, such as feeder and delivery mechanisms, suction grippers, guides, feed wheels, jogging devices, tapes, and cams, using hand tools
• Assist in removing and replacing worn rollers and adjusting pressure between rollers of press, using hand tools
• Wash blankets and cleans ink and ink distributing rollers and ink fountains, using ink solvent and cleaning mechanism on press
• Assist Press Operator by making necessary color or register corrections and/or press adjustments prior to production run to meet and maintain the quality specifications of the work
• Training and mentoring new and existing employees, ensuring consistent knowledge of company policies, procedures, and best practices to improve team performance and productivity

Qualifications

• Ability to read and follow job specifications to determine press set-up materials needed to run the job successfully
• Skill to follow instructions to operate equipment safely and produce the desired product
• Ability to use micrometer to mount and align the printing plate correctly
• Ability to make adjustments to feeder and feed board (e.g., ability to adjust suctions and blast, front and side guides and the timing of the head stops)
• Skill in performing routine operational maintenance and minor repairs to equipment under guidance of senior level Press Operators
• High School Diploma or GED required
• Requires minimum 2 years general knowledge of offset presswork procedures and materials

Additional Information

Rotating Schedule:5:00AM to 6:00PM

Work Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday (for two weeks)
Then it will rotate to Thursday, Friday, Saturday (for two weeks)

Thesalary range for this role at the noted RRD location is $20.00 - $28.00 / hour. Starting pay decisions are determined based on multiple factors including but not limited to relevant education, qualifications, skills, experience, certifications, proficiency, performance, shift, location, and other business needs. Typically, roles follow step progressions to a target rate or set increments over time. Depending on the role, in addition to the hourly rate of pay, the total compensation package may also include overtime, shift differential, call-in, and/or stand-by pay.
