Job summary

LeafSpring Schools in Charlotte is seeking an Assistant Preschool Teacher to support infants through preschoolers in a nurturing classroom. You will help implement play-based learning activities, manage routines, and provide individualized attention that supports each child’s development.

You will work closely with the Lead Teacher to deliver a safe, engaging learning environment, focusing on social, emotional, and cognitive growth. Training and advancement opportunities are provided.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in child care, preschool, daycare, or toddler education (preferred).
• Understanding of child development principles and developmentally appropriate practices (DAP).
• Friendly, patient, and enthusiastic about working with young children.
• Strong communication skills and a team‑oriented mindset.
• High school diploma or GED required.
• CDA or enrollment in Early Childhood Education courses preferred.

Responsibilities

• Support daily routines including circle time, story time, snack, outdoor play, and rest time
• Assist with lesson planning and curriculum implementation based on children’s developmental needs and interests
• Supervise children during classroom transitions, group play, and hands‑on activities
• Maintain a safe, clean, and organized classroom environment aligned with state licensing regulations
• Encourage independence, self‑help skills, and social interaction through positive guidance strategies
• Observe and document children’s behavior and milestones for communication with families and the teaching team
• Provide age‑appropriate support for infants, toddlers, or preschoolers, depending on assigned classroom
• Collaborate with other teachers and staff to create a supportive, inclusive early childhood learning environment
