Job summary

LeafSpring Schools in Charlotte, NC is seeking an Assistant Preschool Teacher to support the Lead Teacher in delivering a nurturing, safe, and educational classroom. You will help with play-based learning, routines, and individualized attention to support each child’s social, emotional, and cognitive development.

This role offers a balanced schedule with no evenings or weekends, paid training, and opportunities for advancement.

Qualifications

• Experience in child care, preschool, daycare, or toddler education preferred.
• Understanding of child development principles and developmentally appropriate practices (DAP).
• Friendly, patient, and enthusiastic about working with young children.
• Strong communication skills and a team-oriented mindset.
• Ability to multitask, follow classroom structure, and adapt to children’s needs.
• High school diploma or GED required.
• CDA or enrollment in Early Childhood Education courses (preferred but not required).

Responsibilities

• Support daily routines including circle time, story time, snack, outdoor play, and rest time.
• Assist with lesson planning and curriculum implementation based on children’s developmental needs and interests.
• Supervise children during classroom transitions, group play, and hands-on activities.
• Maintain a safe, clean, and organized classroom environment aligned with state licensing regulations.
• Encourage independence, self-help skills, and social interaction through positive guidance strategies.
• Observe and document children’s behavior and milestones for communication with families and the teaching team.
• Provide age-appropriate support for infants, toddlers, or preschoolers, depending on assigned classroom.
• Collaborate with other teachers and staff to create a supportive, inclusive early childhood learning environment.
