Assistant Teacher (Bus Driver)

SUMMARY
Supports program staff in maintaining a quality learning environment in which each child achieves his/her highest level of social competence and intellectual growth needed for primary school or other child development facilities. Performs any combination of following instructional tasks in classroom to assist teacher.

QUALIFICATIONS

ASSISTANT TEACHER 1 EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Minimum requirement: Child Development Associate (CDA); EDU 119 and six months to one-year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Once the minimum requirement is met, all assistant teacher/bus drivers must earn an Associate's degree (A.S.) in Early Child Development or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school preferred.
ASSISTANT TEACHER 2 - EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Associate's degree (A.S.) in Early Child Development or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school; EDU 119 and six months to one-year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
OTHER QUALIFICATIONS
Employee must pass an annual physical, TB screening, and submit to random drug screenings.
OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Incumbent must demonstrate a working knowledge of desktop computer, related software, printer, copier, laminator, fax, phone, washer, dryer, and vacuum.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Incumbent must have a Child Development Associate (CDA) Credential, Early Childhood Administration Certificate (EDU 119), and a valid state issued driver's license. Must possess/maintain or obtain/maintain within 90 days of employment a CDL. Must have current certification for CPR and First Aid.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.
