Assistant Preschool Teacher
We are seeking an experienced, caring, and responsible individual to serve as an Assistant Preschool Teacher from approximately 9:30 am to 5:00 pm, Monday-Friday (work week is approximately 40 hours). This position will start in August 2025.
The Montclair Community Pre-K (MCPK) provides a hands-on and minds-on learning experience for children ages 3 to 5 years. The Assistant Teacher is responsible for assisting the Lead and Associate Teacher with all aspects of running the classroom, including working with small groups of children, helping to assess student learning, materials preparation, aftercare supervision, and more.
Requirements include at least 1-3 years of teaching, daycare, camp counselor, after-school, or sitting experience, and a high school diploma. An Associate Degree and/or Child Development Associate (CDA) Certificate are preferred. Applicants must be fluent in English.
The starting salary is $25,000 for a 10-month position (end of August - June), including Montclair Public School holidays, a comprehensive benefits plan (base health care plan fully covered by MCPK), sick and personal days, and 6 days of paid professional development. We offer many opportunities for professional learning and support continuing education. Many beginning teachers have been promoted to Associate and Lead Teacher roles within our program.
