Job summary

LeafSpring School Hanover is seeking an Assistant Preschool Teacher to support the Lead Teacher and provide a nurturing, safe classroom for infants to preschoolers. You’ll help implement play-based learning activities, manage routines, and provide individualized attention that supports each child’s social, emotional, and cognitive development.

Qualifications

• Experience in child care, preschool, daycare, or toddler education preferred.
• Understanding of child development principles and developmentally appropriate practices.
• Friendly, patient, and enthusiastic about working with young children.
• Strong communication skills and a team‑oriented mindset.

Responsibilities

• Support daily routines including circle time, story time, snack, outdoor play, and rest time.
• Assist with lesson planning and curriculum implementation based on children’s developmental needs and interests.
• Supervise children during classroom transitions, group play, and hands‑on activities.
• Maintain a safe, clean, and organized classroom environment aligned with state licensing regulations.
• Encourage independence, self‑help skills, and social interaction through positive guidance strategies.
• Observe and document children’s behavior and milestones for communication with families and the teaching team.
• Provide age‑appropriate support for infants, toddlers, or preschoolers, depending on assigned classroom.
• Collaborate with other teachers and staff to create a supportive, inclusive early childhood learning environment.

Your Role as an Assistant Teacher
