Job summary

Hourigan Construction is seeking a driven individual to join our Preconstruction Services team as an Assistant Preconstruction Manager. The role focuses on budgeting, estimate development, and collaborating with clients and subs to deliver competitive bid packages.

The position requires a B.S. in Construction Management or Engineering and 1–2 years of preconstruction experience, with proficiency in Excel and bid software.

Qualifications

• B.S. in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field or equivalent.
• 1–2 years of preconstruction experience.
• Experience with estimating software including Smartbidnet and OnScreen Takeoff preferred.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Word is required.
• Strong written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
• High integrity and proactive problem-solving approach.

Responsibilities

• Assist with reviewing proposals, specs and drawings to help define scope and budget.
• Assist with cost models from concept to hard bid.
• Takeoffs for project components and apply budget pricing to develop estimates.
• Assist with bid packages, subcontractor pricing, and vendor analyses.
• Assist with negotiating, drafting, and awarding subcontracts.
• Collaborate with team on budgeting, constructability reviews, and value engineering.
• Estimate effort for assigned bids/projects and coordinate with Client Solutions and Operations.
• Identify and flag potential risk factors for supervisors.
