Job summary

City of Sacramento is seeking an Assistant Planner/Associate Planner to perform professional planning duties within the Current Planning Section, focusing on the Central Area. You will review development applications, manage public hearings, and assist with inquiries while supporting pre-application discussions with developers.

Ideal candidates combine urban planning knowledge with strong collaboration, communication, and adaptability, and may advance from the Assistant to Associate level based

Qualifications

• Knowledge of local urban planning, environmental planning, and related disciplines.
• Ability to read and interpret architectural plans and city regulations.
• Experience with public engagement and policy development.

Responsibilities

• Review and analyze proposed minor development projects for conformance with City plans and guidelines.
• Review tentative subdivision maps and recommend revisions to meet City requirements.
• Evaluate environmental effects and prepare corresponding environmental documents.
• Conduct onsite investigations of development projects and engage with the public.
