Job summary

The City of Glendora’s Community Development Department, Planning Division, seeks an Assistant Planner to join the team and assist with front-counter customer service, development applications, and planning projects shaping the community.

Under supervision, the position performs current and long-range planning tasks, conducts research, and communicates with applicants, owners, and agencies; applies planning regulations and reviews proposals, reports, and staff recommendations; may supervise

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent with major work in planning, architecture, environmental design, landscape architecture, or related field.
• Two years of related work experience.

Responsibilities

• Handles current and long-range planning projects and assignments.
• Confers with applicants and agencies to identify problems and propose solutions.
• Reviews plans for zoning, architectural, and general plan requirements; discusses recommendations with stakeholders.
• Contributes to ordinance reviews and staff reports for planning bodies.
• Assists planning staff and clients, preparing reports and presentations.
