St. Luke’s University Health Network in Stroudsburg, PA is seeking an Assistant Patient Care Manager to support nursing practice and patient care quality.

You will supervise daily operations, mentor staff, lead performance-improvement initiatives, and collaborate with physicians and care teams to promote safety and excellent patient experiences.

Qualifications

  • Two years of direct clinical experience preferred.
  • Previous supervisory experience preferred.
  • BLS certification required.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing preferred; license must be within five years of obtaining the position.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrates clinical expertise and acts as a clinical resource to staff.
  • Assumes responsibility and accountability for daily operations: plans, organizes and supervises care to ensure patient safety and quality for patients served by the assigned shift or department.
  • Selects, motivates, and retains staff and initiates a formal recognition plan.
  • Facilitates department staff meetings and trainings relevant to the position.
  • Participates in activities that promote personal and professional development.
  • Serves on assigned hospital and/or unit-based councils.
  • Leads and mentors staff in performance-improvement initiatives.
  • Promotes an environment that fosters inquiry, creative thought, nursing education programs, and the development and application of evidence-based practice initiatives.
  • Reviews staff performance, completes annual evaluations, ensures competency, and initiates remedial actions when appropriate.
  • Acts as liaison with Clinical Risk Management and participates in event reviews, action planning and resolution of complaints and grievances.
  • Maintains timely and effective communication with patients, families, multidisciplinary teams, ancillary departments and the manager to identify and resolve problems that may interfere with positive patient outcomes.
  • Maintains departmental records for administrative and regulatory purposes.

Physical and Sensory Requirements
  • Sitting for up to 5 hours per day (2 hours at a time).
  • Standing for up to 1 hour per day (1 hour at a time).
  • Walking for up to 2 hours per day (20 minutes at a time).
  • Occasionally uses fingers to turn pages.
  • Frequently uses hands to write, type and hold charts; rarely uses hands for firm grasping or twisting/turning.
  • Frequently uses upper extremities to lift and carry up to 10 lbs.
  • Frequently stoops, occasionally squats, rarely reaches above shoulder level.
  • Hearing as it relates to normal conversation in person or on telephone.
  • Seeing as it relates to general vision, near vision, far vision, color vision and peripheral vision.
Education

Registered Professional Nurse with a current license to practice in either Pennsylvania or New Jersey (based on work location). A Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing is preferred and the license must be within five years of obtaining the position.

Training and Experience

  • Previous supervisory experience preferred.
  • BLS certification required.
