Job Description

The Emergency Services Department at Idaho State University is seeking an outstanding faculty member to join the Homeland Security and Emergency Management program. To find the best fit for the program, this position is an open track (Clinical or Tenure track) at the Assistant Professor rank. The HSEM faculty’s primary responsibilities are to develop and teach undergraduate and master-level coursework, recruit, and mentor students in the career field, develop HSEM-related research and apply it in their courses, to advise students’ thesis, capstone, internships, and practicum projects, and involve themselves and students in their research and service projects. Homeland Security and Emergency Management faculty’s primarypurposes are to develop and teach master-level coursework, recruit, and mentorstudents in the career field, develop HSEM-related research and apply it intheir courses, and involve themselves and students in their research andservice projects.

The anticipated start date for the successful candidate will be August 2025.

This position is eligible for full-time remote work; DOESNOT need to have proximity to an ISU campus location. However, occasionaltravel to campus will be required.

Key Responsibilities

Clinical Track:
1.Teach online, asynchronous disciplinary courses within the Homeland Security and Emergency Management (HSEM) degree programs consistent with rank.
2.Participate in creative and scholarly activities, including student mentoring of thesis and capstone projects.
3.Develop online asynchronous courses and curricula depending on interest and experience.
4.Faculty members conduct research and service initiatives related to homeland security and emergency management missions and education.
5.Provide service to the department, university, and profession.
6.Faculty members conduct research and service initiatives related to homeland security and emergency management missions and education.
7.Faculty members keep apprised of new developments, research, and practices in HSEM fields and apply knowledge to course curriculum and delivery.
8.Supports the strategic development and implementation of the HSEM academic programs.

Tenure Track:
1.Teach online, asynchronous disciplinary courses within the Homeland Security and Emergency Management (HSEM) degree programs consistent with rank.
2.Develop a viable line of research that includes extramural funding.
3.Supervision of undergraduate and/or graduate students conducting research.
4.Direct and mentor student research efforts including thesis, capstone, and practicum projects.
5.Develop online asynchronous courses and curriculum depending on interest and experience.
6.Provide service to the department, university, and profession.

Minimum Qualifications

Clinical Track:
1.Earned master's degree (e.g., MS, MA) and/or doctoral degree in a related field (e.g., EdD, PhD)
2.Minimum of three years (post-graduation) experience teaching in a related field.
3.Minimum of 5 years of related professional experience.
4.Capacity and commitment to contribute to teaching/project supervision and contribute to service roles within the College of Health and the University.
5.Excellent interpersonal and professional skills for excellence in instruction.
6.Evidence of strong collaboration and interpersonal skills.
7.Experience and interest in pursuing collaborative research projects.

Tenure Track:
1.Earned PhD, EdD, or another terminal degree in a related discipline.
2.Candidates near completion of the doctorate may be considered, but completion of the degree will be required to maintain employment.
3.Minimum of three years (post-graduation) experience teaching or training in a related field.
4.Minimum of 5 years of related professional experience.
5.Capacity and commitment to contribute to teaching/project supervision and contribute to service roles within the College of Health and the University.
6.Excellent interpersonal and professional skills for excellence in instruction.
7.Evidence of strong collaboration and interpersonal skills.
8.Experience and interest in pursuing collaborative research projects.

Preferred Qualifications

Clinical Track:
1.Experience teaching at the university level.
2.Experience supervising and instructing students in the homeland security and emergency management enterprise.
3.Demonstrated success in the online, asynchronous classroom, teaching, and research/scholarly activities.

Tenure Track:
1.Several years of teaching experience (e.g., full-time or adjunct) at the university level.
2.Experience supervising and instructing graduate students in the homeland security and emergency management enterprise.
3.Demonstrated success in the online, asynchronous classroom, teaching, and research/scholarly activities.
4.Demonstrated success in grant writing and research (a variety of specialty areas will be considered).


Additional Information

3) Research and Scholarly Activity - Outline your research interests and areas of expertise. Include any funded research or grant projects where you served as a principal investigator or collaborator and note any resulting publications or reports.

Thisposition will remain open until it is filled; however, priority considerationwill be given to applications received on or beforeJuly 13, 2025. Salary will be $63,000 per year,commensurate with education and experience.
