The University of Washington’s School of Medicine, Department of Medicine, Division of Medical Genetics, is recruiting for a full-time (1.0 FTE) Assistant or Associate Professor on the Clinical Practice Track based at the University of Washington Medical Center to provide care to medical genetics and biochemical genetics patients. Specific rank will be commensurate with experience and qualifications as generally described in UW’sFaculty Code Section 24-34. The position is available effective January 1, 2027; specific start date thereafter is negotiable.
Clinical work, teaching, scholarship, and service are integral to all Clinical Practice positions. The initial appointment period will be three years, at a minimum, with eligibility for renewal thereafter. Faculty on the clinical practice track hold multi-year appointments that align with a 12-month service period (July 1-June 30). Faculty with 12-month service periods are paid for 11 months of service over a 12-month period (July-June), meaning the equivalent of one month is available for paid time off. Clinical Practice track appointments are not eligible for tenure.
University of Washington faculty engage in teaching, research/scholarship, and service. The successful candidate will be expected to develop a nationally recognized clinical program. Duties will include primarily outpatient clinical responsibilities, with call coverage, and some inpatient consult work at UW Medical Center Montlake or UW Medical Center Northwest Hospital. The successful candidate will work with and teach students and trainees, including medical students and medical genetics residents. Administrative responsibilities will include serving on Division, Department, and/or hospital committees. The faculty member will work closely with the Medical Genetics Medical Director.
Positive factors for consideration include, but are not limited to, candidates who are board eligible or board certified in Biochemical Genetics by the start date of the appointment and who have experience in the care of biochemical genetics patients, including infusions.
The base salary range for this position will be: Assistant Professor: $17,500 – $19,167 per month ($210,000 - $230,004 annually) and Associate Professor: $19,167 – $21,667 per month ($230,004 - $260,004 annually) commensurate with experience, qualifications, and rank or as mandated by a U.S. Department of Labor prevailing wage determination. This range is inclusive of base salary provided through the UW Physicians (UWP) practice plan, in addition to base salary provided by the University. Compensation provided by UW Physicians (UWP) practice plan may provide eligibility for separate benefits offered by that organization.
