As an Assistant Operations Manager, you’ll help lead our teams in maintaining high standards of operational efficiency while prioritizing the safety of all team members. Summary: The Assistant Operations Manager in the M&R Department will ensure a safe and efficient environment for the Terminal Maintenance & Repair Program.

Essential Duties:

  1. Develops and executes operating plans designed to improve customer service, productivity, safety, and quality of operating activities.
  2. Communicate with line representatives on out-of-service equipment and cost of repairs.
  3. Maintain statistics on all available and out-of-service equipment.
  4. Coordinate daily labor orders for M&R and Reefer Operations.
  5. Keep Manager aware of current operational status by regular communications and by issuing reports as directed.
  6. Ensure good communication between Maintenance and Terminal Operations to minimize equipment downtime and maximize gate operation fluidity.
  7. Ensure that all work orders and reports are completed accurately and submitted on time to appropriate staff.
  8. Ensures that the parts inventory meets the needs of the repairs to be performed.
  9. Ensure safety, health, and environmental standards are met throughout the operation.
  10. Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements:

  1. HS Diploma or GED Equivalent with 3+ years of operations supervisory experience OR Four (4) year college degree in Marine Operations, Management, Business Administration, or related discipline.
  2. Requires the ability to obtain and maintain a TWIC Card issued by the Department of Homeland Security.
  3. Requires the ability to obtain and maintain a Port Access Card issued by the NJ State Police.
  4. A valid Driver’s License in good standing is required.

Preferred Qualifications:

  1. Previous experience in a supervisory role or supervising ILA Longshore Labor a plus.
  2. Sense of Urgency & Self-Starter Mentality A MUST.
  3. Requires good leadership skills.
  4. High level of planning and organizational skills needed.
  5. Ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written English.
  6. Excellent interpersonal skills.
  7. Exceptional time management, due to fast-moving, demanding work environment.
  8. Must be computer literate; proficient with Microsoft Office – Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
