Assistant Operations Manager (Project Management)

Responsibilities

The Assistant Operations Manager oversees yard, warehouse, trucking, maintenance, and safety program functions. Responsibilities include:

  1. Managing order fulfillment, 'will call', and on-time delivery functions, including product selection, loading, and transportation.
  2. Resolving shipment or delivery issues and order backlog problems.
  3. Managing transportation, including negotiating carrier contracts, ensuring compliance with Department of Transportation regulations, and legal load requirements.
  4. Managing warehouse operations, including receipt of products, purchase order reconciliation, inventory control, storage design, and loading for shipment.
  5. Training, guiding, and coaching materials-handling personnel.
  6. Managing warehouse, equipment, vehicles, yard, and grounds to ensure a safe, OSHA-compliant work environment.
  7. Managing loss control activities such as fire, theft, and fleet safety, and maintaining good housekeeping.
  8. Demonstrating commitment to safety, quality, environmental awareness, and continuous process improvement.
  9. Performing other duties as assigned.
Basic Qualifications

College degree or equivalent work experience in a related field. Ability to perform in an office environment with some physical exertion and seasonal environmental conditions.

Preferred Qualifications

Degree in warehouse management or experience in transportation management, preferably in building materials. Over 7 years of related experience. Professional certification may be required. Knowledge of industry practices in building materials, transportation, warehouse management, and leadership skills are essential.
