Responsibilities:
The Assistant Operations Manager oversees yard, warehouse, trucking, maintenance, and safety functions. Manages order fulfillment, "will call", and on-time delivery, including product selection, loading, and transportation. Resolves shipment or delivery issues and backlog concerns. Manages transportation by negotiating carrier contracts and ensuring compliance with Department of Transportation regulations. Oversees warehouse operations, including receiving, inventory control, storage, and shipment preparation. Leads and trains warehouse personnel. Ensures a safe, OSHA-compliant environment for warehouse, yard, and fleet operations, including loss control activities. Maintains good housekeeping and promotes safety, quality, environmental awareness, and continuous improvement. Performs additional duties as assigned.
Basic Qualifications:
College degree or equivalent work experience in related fields. Office environment with some physical exertion. Some duties performed under seasonal environmental conditions.
Qualifications:
Degree in warehouse management or transportation management, experience in building materials, typically more than 7 years in related roles. Professional certification may be required. Knowledge of building materials, transportation, warehouse operations, and industry practices. Effective communication and leadership skills required.
