Assistant Nutritionist - Women, Infants, and Children (WIC)

Job Responsibilities

1. Under supervision, provide WIC certifications, health history assessments, anthropometrics, immunization screening, hemoglobin/hematocrit testing, risk evaluation, WIC food prescription, documentation, and high-risk referrals following standards and protocols.
2. Offer individual nutrition education counseling and follow-up for low-risk medical conditions.
3. Plan, conduct, and evaluate group nutrition education classes using facilitated learning and tele-nutrition, documenting all contacts per WIC policies.
4. Assist families with infant formulas, including education, dispensing, and monitoring; refer to Registered Dietitian as needed.
5. Promote and support breastfeeding, including screening, referrals, and issuing breast pumps and supplies.
6. Provide consultation to healthcare team and community on nutrition, participate in clinic scheduling, caseload monitoring, outreach, and collaborate with other staff to enhance service quality. May require standing and lifting up to 30 pounds.

Minimum and Additional Requirements

Minimum: Bachelor's degree in relevant field (e.g., dietetics, nutrition, family and child development) recognized by CHEA. Upload unofficial transcripts; official copies required prior to hiring.

Experience: At least 2 years in clinical, public health, or institutional nutrition setting. Related associate's or bachelor's degree may substitute.

Preferred Qualifications

Knowledge of maternal, infant, and child nutrition principles and practices.

Additional Notes

Position based in York County. May require working during emergencies per Disaster Plan. Valid driver’s license and clean driving record may be required for final consideration.
