Job summary

Shodair Children’s Hospital is seeking a Night Shift Assistant Nurse Manager to support and guide nursing staff in delivering safe, trauma‑informed, high‑quality care. Working closely with the Nurse Manager, this role mentors staff, ensures compliance, and steps in to provide direct care when needed.

The position emphasizes leadership, mentorship, and hands‑on clinical coverage during night shifts within a pediatric mental health setting.

Qualifications

• RN license in Montana or Compact state
• CPR certification required
• CPI APS certification within 2 months of hire
• Minimum 2 years’ experience with children/adolescents in mental health setting
• Leadership, team lead, or charge nurse experience preferred

Responsibilities

• Support daily nursing operations, staffing, and unit flow.
• Provide real-time coaching, mentoring, and clinical supervision to staff.
• Lead de-escalation efforts and respond to crises.
• Ensure documentation, compliance, and quality standards are met.
• Assist with onboarding and training new hires.
• Act as unit leader in the absence of the Nurse Manager.
• Provide direct patient care when required.
