Job summary

St. Vincent's Medical Center in Bridgeport, CT, seeks an Assistant Nursing Manager (RN) to supervise patient care, clinical personnel, and unit operations.

You will oversee daily operations, including off-shift and weekend supervision, ensuring high-quality, cost-effective, patient- and family-centered care aligned with the hospital's strategic plan. You will lead staffing, performance improvement efforts, and staff development, while maintaining a safe and therapeutic environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing.
• Existing incumbents as of March 1, 2024 must obtain BSN within 3 years of this date
• 2 years of acute care nursing experience required.
• At least one year of supervisory experience preferred.
• Perioperative experience; GI or Operating Room preferred but not required.
• Registered Nurse, State of CT
• Certified in Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association
• Knowledge of nursing administration and LEAN process improvement strategies.

Responsibilities

• Adjust unit staffing to reflect changes in care requirements and patient census.
• Develop colleagues through performance feedback, reviews, promotions, and coaching.
• Manage staffing schedule and payroll, including attendance issues.
• Promote compliance with Joint Commission and other regulatory standards through rounding and auditing.
• Support leadership with investigations of patient concerns and KPI monitoring.
• Communicate decisions and policies to the team and cascade information from leadership.
• Participate on department and hospital committees.
• Perform other related responsibilities as required.
