The Assistant Nurse Manager is a registered professional nurse who provides an associate management role for a unit/department. This position provides direct nursing care as well as unit leadership. In the absence of the Nurse Manager, is operationally responsible for the unit/department and for the quality of care delivered 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Demonstrates knowledge and understanding of “Magnet standards” and role models/facilitates/integrates this model into unit culture. Clinically competent in nursing role to serve as mentor/coach to associates by providing direct nursing care, as well as managerial activities. Assumes an advocacy role for patients and families by utilizing the nursing process in the care, counsel, and health teaching of the ill, injured or infirm.
Demonstrates respect, dignity, kindness and empathy in each encounter with all patients, families, visitors and other employees regardless of cultural background.
