Winlock School District is seeking an Assistant Coach for the Middle School Girls Basketball program. This seasonal role emphasizes skill development, teamwork, and a love for the game, with leadership expected to inspire student-athletes on and off the court.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong communication and organizational skills and a commitment to a positive, inclusive team environment. Evening and weekend practices and games are required.

Qualifications

• Coaching experience or a strong background in basketball.
• Strong understanding of basketball fundamentals and strategies.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to motivate and inspire young athletes while focusing on teamwork.
• Strong organizational skills and time management.
• Must pass a background check and comply with district policies.
• Availability to work evenings and weekends during the season.
• Commitment to the physical, emotional, and social well being of student-athletes.

Responsibilities

• Assist the head coach in planning and implementing practice sessions.
• Provide guidance on shooting, passing, dribbling, and defense.
• Help organize practices, games, and tournaments.
• Foster a positive team culture emphasizing respect and sportsmanship.
• Monitor players' progress and provide constructive feedback.
• Communicate with players, parents, and staff about schedules and development.
• Assist in managing team equipment and upkeep of gear.
• Attend practices, games, and meetings as required.
• Uphold the district's values and athletic program mission.
