As an Assistant Teacher, you will work closely with the Lead Teacher to create a nurturing and stimulating environment for our young learners. Your primary responsibility will be to support the implementation of the Montessori curriculum, fostering the social, emotional, and cognitive development of each child.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide Nurturing Care: Offer a warm, caring, and nurturing environment for infants, ensuring their safety, comfort, and well-being at all times.
  • Support Infant Development: Assist in implementing developmentally appropriate activities and experiences that promote the physical, cognitive, social, and emotional growth of infants.
  • Follow Montessori Principles: Familiarize oneself with Montessori philosophy and principles regarding infant care and education, and integrate them into daily interactions and activities.
  • Maintain Clean and Organized Environment: Keep the infant classroom clean, organized, and conducive to learning, including regularly sanitizing toys, surfaces, and equipment.
  • Observe and Document Progress: Observe infants closely to understand their individual needs, interests, and developmental milestones, and document their progress through daily observations and assessments.
  • Collaborate with Lead Teacher: Work collaboratively with the lead infant teacher and other staff members to plan and implement curriculum, share observations, and discuss strategies for supporting infant development.
  • Promote Parent Communication: Maintain open and positive communication with parents/guardians, providing regular updates on their child's activities, milestones, and any concerns or achievements.
  • Ensure Safety and Security: Adhere to safety protocols and guidelines to ensure the physical well-being and security of infants at all times, including safe sleep practices and proper supervision.
  • Support Meal and Nap Times: Assist with feeding, diapering, and nap routines, following individualized schedules and preferences for each infant.
  • Professional Development: Participate in ongoing professional development opportunities to enhance knowledge and skills in infant care, early childhood education, and Montessori principles.
  • Cultural Sensitivity: Respect and celebrate the cultural diversity of families and infants in the classroom, incorporating multicultural perspectives into activities and materials.
  • Maintain Confidentiality: Respect the privacy and confidentiality of families and children, maintaining discretion with sensitive information and observations.

Schedule: Monday-Friday, 9:00am-5:30pm (30 min break)

Education
  • High School Diploma or equivalent (required)
  • Bachelor's (preferred)
Experience
  • Daycare, pre-school, or K-12 Education: 1 year (required)
License/Certification
  • CPR Certification (Required - can complete post offer)
  • DCF Child Care 45 hours (Required - can complete post offer)
