Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Carry out approved tests to support manufacturing in a laboratory.
• Apply high quality scientific techniques in microbiological analysis of ingredients, in-process samples, finished product testing and environmental monitoring.
• Complete documentation, audit and release of commodities or products.
• Complete housekeeping responsibilities including autoclave, waste disposal, and lab sanitation.
• Prepare media for test procedures.
• Participate in Abbott's EHS program and ensure safety compliance.
• Collaborate with technicians and communicate clearly within a small team.
• Perform testing in the lab following manuals and training.
• Trouble-shoot when results are out-of-spec and determine causes.

Primary responsibilities

• Carry out the approved tests to comply with the department objectives in a laboratory that supports manufacturing. There are samples that will be collected from the manufacturing floor.
• Applying high quality scientific techniques in the microbiological analysis of raw ingredients, in-process production samples, finished product testing and environmental monitoring, to ensure that all products manufactured are fit for use
• Complete appropriate documentation, audit and release of commodities or products
• Complete housekeeping responsibilities including autoclave, waste disposal, general laboratory sanitation, etc.
• Ability to prepare media for test procedures
• Demonstrate accountability and responsibility for Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) performance and compliance through active participation and support of Abbott's EHS Program.
• Partner with fellow technicians, with a high degree of motivation, attention to important details with clear communication to all team members. This is important due to the high degree of responsibility and working within a small group where each person is relied upon highly.
• Do all testing in the lab through instruction via manuals and through training
• Problem solving when test results are out-of-specification to assign a cause and rule lab error

REQUIREMENTS

• High School Diploma / GED
• 1 year of appropriate college science with lab (biology, microbiology, chemistry, physics, environmental sciences, organic chemistry, or biochemistry)
• 1 year college mathematics (algebra, geometry, trigonometry, or calculus)

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelors or Associates Degree in science related field
• 2+ years laboratory experience
• Experience in a food or pharmaceutical manufacturing environment

BASE PAY

The base pay for this position is $19.05 - $38.15/hour In specific locations, the pay range may vary from the range posted.
