Job summary

Abbott Laboratories is seeking a Laboratory Technician to support microbiological testing in our manufacturing environment in Tipp City, Ohio. You will perform approved tests on raw materials, in-process samples, finished products, and environmental monitoring, ensuring products meet quality standards.

The role emphasizes attention to detail, documentation accuracy, and collaboration with fellow technicians to maintain EHS compliance and efficient operations.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma / GED required.
• 1 year of college science with lab (biology, microbiology, chemistry, physics, environmental sciences, organic chemistry, or biochemistry).
• 1 year college mathematics (algebra, geometry, trigonometry, or calculus).
• Preferred: Bachelor or Associate degree in a science-related field.
• 2+ years laboratory experience preferred.
• Experience in a food or pharmaceutical manufacturing environment preferred.

Responsibilities

• Carry out approved tests to support department objectives in a laboratory that supports manufacturing.
• Apply high-quality scientific techniques in microbiological analysis of raw ingredients, in-process production samples, finished product testing and environmental monitoring to ensure products are fit for use.
• Complete appropriate documentation, audit and release of commodities or products.
• Complete housekeeping responsibilities including autoclave, waste disposal, and general laboratory sanitation.

Primary responsibilities include:

• Carry out the approved tests to comply with the department objectives in a laboratory that supportsmanufacturing. Thereare samples that will be collected from the manufacturing floor.
• Applying high quality scientific techniques in the microbiological analysisof raw ingredients,in-process production samples,finished product testingandenvironmental monitoring, to ensure that all products manufactured are fit for use
• Complete appropriatedocumentation, audit and release of commodities or products
• Complete housekeepingresponsibilities includingautoclave, waste disposal, general laboratory sanitation, etc.
• Ability to prepare media for test procedures
• Demonstrateaccountabilityandresponsibilityfor Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) performance andcompliancethrough active participation and support of Abbott’sEHSProgram.
• Partner with fellow technicians, with a high degree ofmotivation, attention to important details with clear communication to all team members.This is important due to the high degree ofresponsibilityand working within a small group where each person is relied upon highly.
• Do alltestingin the lab through instruction via manuals and throughtraining
• Problemsolving when test results are out-of-specification to assign a cause and rule lab error

REQUIREMENTS:

• High School Diploma / GED
• 1 year of appropriate college science with lab (biology,microbiology,chemistry, physics, environmental sciences,organic chemistry, orbiochemistry)
• 1 year college mathematics (algebra, geometry, trigonometry, or calculus)

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelors or Associates Degree in science related field
• 2+ years laboratory experience

The base pay for this position is $19.05 – $38.15 per hour. In specific locations, the pay range may vary from the range posted.
