Job summary

Northern Tool + Equipment is seeking an Assistant Merchant in Burnsville, MN to drive sales and profitability across assigned categories. This hybrid role combines remote work one day per week with four days in the Burnsville office, supporting category analysis, assortment planning, pricing, and supplier collaboration to deliver a best-in-class shopping experience.

You will monitor performance, prepare category reviews, manage SKU setup, coordinate new item launches, and help develop promotions

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Business or related field preferred.
1–3 years in merchandising or category management preferred.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with data interpretation.
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel; Power BI experience preferred.

Responsibilities

Support sales, margin, inventory turn, and profitability objectives for assigned categories.
Analyze sales, inventory trends, pricing, demand, and competitive activity.
Prepare category reviews, business analyses, and performance summaries.
Monitor key metrics and provide recommendations to improve performance.
Assist with product assortment planning, SKU setup, and category maintenance.
Develop promotional plans and digital marketing activities.
Coordinate with suppliers to ensure accurate system setup and timely launches.
