Job summary

LOFT in New York City is seeking an Assistant Merchandiser to support execution of departmental strategies and manage product life cycles. You will help build the assortment, prepare reports, and coordinate cross-functional communications to drive results.

The role requires a fashion-related bachelor’s degree and about 1 year of merchandising experience, with strong analytical, communication, and organizational skills. On-site in NYC with employee benefits.

Responsibilities

  • Generate and distribute weekly, monthly, and seasonal reports.
  • Provide analysis and understanding of current business trends.
  • Prepare documents for major Product Lifecycle Meetings.
  • Assist in building assortment and maintaining assortment sheets.
  • Partner with Planning, Sourcing, and Marketing to execute promotions and ensure timely delivery.
  • Communicate necessary information to Cross-Functional teams.
  • Support Senior Merchandiser and help build assortment.
  • Demonstrate awareness of the retail landscape and drive results.

The Assistant Merchandiser supports the execution of departmental strategies and business objectives; is responsible for assisting throughout the Product Life Cycle process; and supports the department with any necessary tactical responsibilities.

  • Achieve/exceed financial plan by supporting Senior Merchandiser in all facets of managing a successful
  • department.
  • Generate and distribute weekly, monthly, and seasonal reports.
  • Provide analysis and understanding of current business trends.
  • Provide applicable historical information and market research.
  • Manage daily Merchandising responsibilities, including accurately building, editing and maintaining
  • assortment sheets; reconciling and updating receipts; maintaining sample accuracy and handoff;
  • communicating necessary information to Cross-Functional team in a timely manner.
  • Prepare all necessary documents and resources for major Product Lifecycle Meetings, including Hindsight,
  • Conduct research on competitive set including pricing, style, and key messaging information.
  • Demonstrate awareness of retail landscape.
  • Support lead Merchandiser in building assortment.
  • Participate on Cross-Functional team and make relevant recommendations to drive results.
  • Build relationships with Cross-Functional partners and participate as a solution-oriented team member,
  • contributing to a high performing team.
  • Partner with Planning to execute promotional strategies to effectively manage sales, gross margin, and
  • Partner with Sourcing to secure timely flow of delivery.
  • Partner with Marketing to deliver accurate mailer/PR look book information.
You’ll bring to the role
  • Bachelor’s degree in fashion-related major.
  • 1 year of related experience in Merchandising, or relevant Internships.
  • Strong strategic thinking and analytical capabilities.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Working knowledge of retail financial measurements.
  • Strong fashion sense, with a sense of brand and client needs.
  • Broad-based business acumen with the potential to grow to the Merchant level.
  • Ability to be an active listener and take direction.
  • Strong self-management and time management skills.Detail oriented, with excellent follow-through skills.
  • Strong prioritization skills.
  • Excellent organizational ability to facilitate multi-tasking in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work in a highly collaborative environment.

The wage range for this position is $50,000 to $54,000. Successful candidates’ wage rates will be determined based on their individual qualifications for the position. *
