Jackson College invites applications for an Assistant Coach position for Men’s Basketball. The role assists the head coach in recruiting, instruction, and monitoring student-athletes in accordance with NJCAA and MCCAA guidelines.

The incumbent will help recruit top local athletes, develop season plans, supervise volunteer coaches, and coordinate practices and travel while upholding college policies and promoting a positive image for the athletics program.

Qualifications

• Experience in college athletics or coaching environments.
• Knowledge of recruiting student-athletes and compliance is helpful.
• Familiarity with NJCAA and MCCAA rules is beneficial.

SUMMARY

Assists head coach in selecting, recruiting, instructing and monitoring student-athletes for Men’s Basketball. Follows all rules and guidelines of the College and in accordance with the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) and the Michigan Community College Athletic Association (MCCAA).

• Submit list of recruits for grant approval (All grants/scholarships are awarded in accordance with an approved College budget and shall be approved by the Athletic Director.
• Assists in developing preliminary scheduling and season plan
• Assists head coach in the supervision of volunteer coaches and student-athletes (academic, practice and games)
• Fosters sportsmanship and fair play
• Assists in the coordination of practices and game and team travel
• Abide by all standards, rules and regulations of the NJCAA and MCCAA
• Conform to the administrative policies of the College and the Athletic Department, including but not limited to: Travel regulations, Scholarships & Purchase orders
• Foster a positive image for the College and the Athletic Department
