Job summary

Burns & McDonnell in Phoenix seeks an Assistant Mechanical Engineer to support licensed engineers in creating world-class designs for a variety of facilities, from power plants to healthcare and government projects. You will work with project teams through design and construction, adapting plans to budget constraints and client needs.

Responsibilities include assisting in mechanical design from concept to completion, reviewing drawings, and applying engineering principles.

Qualifications

• Bachelor Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field from an accredited program.
• ABET Accreditation strongly preferred.
• Prior internship and/or related consulting experience preferred.
• Basic knowledge in standard mechanical engineering techniques, principles and procedures.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work methodically and analytically in a quantitative problem-solving environment.

Responsibilities

• Assists in the mechanical design of projects from the conceptual phase through design completion.
• Assists with modifying and reviewing production drawings for a variety of projects.
• Assists in designing mechanical components for project needs and requirements.
• Applies basic knowledge of mechanical engineering concepts, principles, practices, codes and procedures.
• Assists with research and compiles project related data for managers.
• Assists with updating drawings to verify corrections across CAD software.
• Assists with client presentations, shop drawing review, and contract administration.
• Assists in performing field inspections, measurements or calculations.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
