Job summary

St. Johns Golf and Country Club in St. Augustine, FL, is seeking a Part-Time Assistant Mechanic to learn, contribute, and grow within our hospitality‑focused property.

As part of Troon, you will maintain golf course equipment and support maintenance teams, performing routine servicing and minor repairs with safety in mind. Requirements include a certificate from a college or technical school, 2+ years of small engine experience, and a valid driver's license.

Qualifications

• Must have two or more years of experience with small engine repairs and maintenance.
• Must have a valid driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Changing oil in equipment
• Repairing 2‑cycle engines on weed eaters
• Overhauls and repairs of maintenance vehicles, mowing equipment, and other power equipment
• Lubricates and services all equipment
• Inspects equipment for operating deficiencies and makes routine adjustments where necessary
• Maintains an up‑to‑date understanding of hydraulic systems, repairs, and their components
• Inspects, changes, and repairs tires
• Assists in training maintenance staff in the proper care and upkeep of golf course equipment
• May be called upon to operate or train to operate various types of maintenance equipment
• Incorporates safe work practices in job performance
• Performs other duties as required

Pay

Key Responsibilities

• Changing oil in equipment
• Repairing 2‑cycle engines on weed eaters
• Overhauls and repairs of maintenance vehicles, mowing equipment, and other power equipment
• Lubricates and services all equipment
• Inspects equipment for operating deficiencies and makes routine adjustments where necessary
• Maintains an up‑to‑date understanding of hydraulic systems, repairs, and their components
• Inspects, changes, and repairs tires
• Assists in controlling tool access and use by maintenance staff
• Cleans working areas after repair work is completed
• Assists in fabrication, body repair, and painting
• Adjusts cutting units on mowing equipment
• Upon completion of equipment servicing, assists on the maintenance crew and may operate mowing equipment
• Assists in training maintenance staff in the proper care and upkeep of golf course equipment
• May be called upon to operate or train to operate various types of maintenance equipment
• Incorporates safe work practices in job performance
• Performs other duties as required

Minimum Qualifications

• Certificate from a college or technical school
• Must have two or more years of experience with small engine repairs and maintenance
• Must have a valid driver's license

Other Qualifications

• Must be a quick learner and able to work in a fast‑paced environment
• Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred, but not required
• Regular and reliable attendance

Extra Information

We are looking to hire an experienced assistant mechanic. The individual will also be required to work on the golf course if needed and be trained on how to troubleshoot large equipment repair and grinding mower reels.
