Big 5 Sporting Goods Corporation is seeking an energetic Management Trainee to join our store teams. This entry-level program develops future store managers through hands-on leadership training and mentorship from experienced personnel.

You will rotate across departments, participate in a structured training plan, and prepare for promotion within 6–18 months in a fast-paced retail environment. Expect emphasis on customer service, sales growth, merchandising, and adherence to company policies

Qualifications

• Must be 21 years of age or older.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• High School diploma, GED, or High School Equivalency.
• Flexible scheduling.
• E-Verify employment requirements.
• Light to moderate lifting may be required.

Responsibilities

• Provide excellent customer service and assist customers throughout the store.
• Drive sales and respond to customer inquiries.
• Answer phone calls and respond to inquiries.
• Direct oversight of footwear and advertising programs, and other departments.
• Merchandising and compliance with all company policies.
• Setting promotional signage and maintaining a clean sales floor.
• Inventory control and loss-prevention policies enforcement.
• Assist with store opening/closing and training new associates.
• Directing sales and cashier associates throughout the store.

Our Manager Trainee gains knowledge and experiencerequiredfor promotion to higher management positions underdirectionof experienced personnel, by performing the following duties personally or through subordinates. This entry-level position is purposely designed to be transitory andgenerally lasts6-18 monthsbefore promotion to the next level. A well-defined training program will be provided to help you develop your way into a management position. Primary Duties

• Assistwith store opening and closing proceduresTraining newly hired associates
• Directing sales and cashier associates throughout the store
• Inventory control and enforcement of loss prevention policies
• Enforcement of all company policies
• Performs or may performadditionalduties as assigned by management and supervision

Position Requirements

• Must be 21 years of age or older

• Basic knowledge of sporting goods is a plus
