The Foundry Ministries, Inc. is seeking an Assistant Manager, Production to oversee the sorting, evaluation, and pricing of donated items and to support training of program participants in the Production department.

You will meet with the team to discuss evaluations, recognitions, and GRO W issues, uphold our mission/values, and supervise daily operations while signing the Statement of Faith where required.

Assistant Manager, Production Position Summary:

The Assistant Manager, Production, oversees the sorting, evaluation, and pricing of all donated items. These items include clothing, shoes, and accessories; domestics; showcase items; and household goods.

The Assistant Manager, Production, supports the training and supervision of program participants assigned to the Production department. Training includes an Employment Readiness overview, specific assignment training (staff and program participants), sales, recycling, and discarding.

The Assistant Manager, Production, meets with the team to discuss program participants' evaluations, recognitions, and G.R.O.W. issues.

The Assistant Manager, Production must uphold The Foundry's mission, vision, and core values. The Assistant Manager must be willing to sign The Foundry's Statement of Faith. The Assistant Manager reports directly to the General Manager and is responsible for upholding the Board of Directors' policies. The Manager's responsibilities include the duties defined in this responsibility description.

Responsibility Description
Production
  • Oversee the daily operations in the production department.
  • Serve as the store liaison in the absence of the General Manager and Assistant Managers, Sales.
  • Ensure staff, program participants, and volunteers follow all production procedures and protocols.
  • Responsible for consistently maintaining a neat, orderly, clean production area.
  • Promote teamwork within all thrift store departments, working cooperatively with team members to help attain overall goals.
  • Ensure daily, weekly, and monthly production goals and metrics are met.
  • Ensure that production inventory is staged in designated areas.
Partner with General Manager - Staff Management
  • Coach and mentor staff to meet professional development goals.
  • Manage the team workflow by planning workloads, allocating tasks, and monitoring progress against goals.
  • Communicate with team members regarding new initiatives, policy revisions, and ministry updates.
  • Maintain safety standards by complying with operational objectives, ministry training, and reporting procedures.
  • Be responsible for relaying and confirming receipt of all Foundry emergency messages to those in your department.
Employment Readiness
  • Supervise the placement, training, and cross-training of all program participants assigned to the production department.
  • Provide workforce training to participants in soft skills and technical skills when applicable.
  • Follow program guidelines regarding interactions with and oversight of program participants assigned to the production department.
  • Communicate with Foundry program staff on issues and needs that concern both ministry departments as required.
  • Evaluate program participant performance following program guidelines and provide feedback by submitting G.R.O.W action requests.
  • Treat each program participant with dignity and professionalism.
  • Communicate issues and concerns regarding program participants to management.
  • Maintain program participant confidentiality at all times.
Qualifications and Requirements:
Education
  • High School Diploma, High School Equivalency Certificate, or GED.
Experience
  • One (1) year of retail management experience.
Requirements
  • Able to use a computer/tablet to perform job duties.
  • Must be able to work required overtime as assigned by the General Manager, including but not limited to evening shifts and special events.
  • Physical demands of this position include extensive standing and walking, lifting to 50 pounds regularly, and pushing and pulling bins, racks, and carts to 1,000 pounds with assistance.
  • You must be able to bend, stoop, crouch, and climb a step ladder approximately three feet in height to reach materials.
  • You must be able to work in a retail and warehouse environment, including exposure to dust and fluctuating temperatures.
  • You must express yourself verbally and accurately, and loudly or quickly convey verbal instructions.
  • You must hear and understand speech in person, via telephone, or other devices, and recognize work-associated sounds such as vehicle horns or emergency sirens.
  • You must have near and far visual acuity and clear peripheral vision.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
