Job summary

Assemble Cinemas in Manhasset, NY is seeking an Assistant Manager to support the Theater & Operations Manager. The role leads shifts, upholds service and presentation standards, and acts as manager on duty in absence. It is a hands-on leadership position working on the floor with the team.

The ideal candidate has supervisory experience in cinema or hospitality, strong communication skills, and availability for evenings, weekends, and holidays; ability to lift up to 40 lbs may be required.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of supervisory or lead experience in cinema, hospitality, restaurant, or retail operations.
• Experience with cash handling, register reconciliation, and POS systems.
• Evening, weekend, and holiday availability required.
• Must be 18 years of age or older; ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 40 lbs.
• First aid and CPR certification is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Serve as manager on duty during assigned shifts, with full responsibility for operations, staff, and guest experience.
• Open and close the theater, including cash handling, register reconciliation, safe counts, and end-of-day reporting.
• Supervise, direct, and support shift leads, concessions staff, ushers, and porters.
• Uphold service, cleanliness, and presentation standards throughout the venue and assist on floor when needed.
• Resolve guest concerns professionally and implement appropriate service recovery.
• Assist with scheduling, training, onboarding, and coaching of hourly staff.
• Monitor concession inventory and assist with ordering, receiving, and vendor coordination.
• Ensure compliance with safety, security, health, and alcohol service policies.
• Support private rentals, school screenings, and community events, including setup and breakdown.
• Perform basic projection operation as trained, in support of the projectionist and Theater & Operations Manager.
• Take on additional responsibilities as directed.

Reports to: Theater & Operations Manager | Status: Part-Time, Hourly (Non-Exempt) | Location: On-Site — Manhasset, NY 11030

Position Summary

The Assistant Manager supports the Theater & Operations Manager in the daily operation of the theater and serves as the manager on duty in their absence. This is a hands‑on leadership role responsible for supervising shifts, upholding service and presentation standards, and ensuring the theater runs smoothly from open to close. The Assistant Manager works the floor alongside the team — no role on this team is above any task.

Responsibilities

• – Open and close the theater, including cash handling, register reconciliation, safe counts, and end‑of‑day reporting
• – Supervise, direct, and support shift leads, concessions staff, ushers, and porters during assigned shifts
• – Uphold service, cleanliness, and presentation standards throughout the venue, stepping in to clean, run concessions, and work the floor as needed
• – Resolve guest concerns professionally and implement appropriate service recovery
• – Assist with scheduling, training, onboarding, and coaching of hourly staff
• – Monitor concession inventory and assist with ordering, receiving, and vendor coordination
• – Ensure compliance with safety, security, health, and alcohol service policies during assigned shifts

Requirements

• – A minimum of two (2) years of supervisory or lead experience in cinema, hospitality, restaurant, or retail operations — required
• – Experience with cash handling, register reconciliation, and POS systems
• – Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to direct a team while working alongside it
• – Sound judgment and professionalism under pressure, including guest conflict resolution
• – Evening, weekend, and holiday availability required; open and close shifts as scheduled
• – Must be 18 years of age or older; ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 40 lbs, with or without reasonable accommodation
• – First aid and CPR certification is a plus

Schedule

This is a part‑time hourly position scheduled across daytime, evening, weekend, and holiday shifts based on the theater's programming schedule, including regular opening and closing responsibilities. Overtime is paid at time‑and‑a‑half for all hours worked over 40 in a workweek. Scheduled hours vary from week to week based on the theater's programming and business needs.
