A leading healthcare provider in California seeks an Assistant Manager for Imaging Services, responsible for ensuring operational efficiency and quality in the Diagnostic Imaging Department. This role involves staff supervision and compliance with healthcare regulations while fostering a culture of improvement and patient safety.
Summary
SUMMARY: The Assistant Manager, Imaging Services plays a vital leadership role in the day-to-day operations of the Diagnostic Imaging Department, which includes General X-ray, Ultrasound, CT, MRI, Mammography, and Nuclear Medicine. Under the direction of the Manager, Imaging Services, this position provides operational oversight, staff supervision, and resource coordination to ensure the efficient and high-quality delivery of imaging services. The Assistant Manager is responsible for direct supervision of imaging staff, assigning staff based on workload demands and shifting operational priorities, while maintaining compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, including Medicare, Medicaid, OSHA, CDPH, NRC, Joint Commission standards, and collective bargaining agreements. This role is critical in supporting regulatory readiness, upholding clinical standards, and fostering a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement within the imaging department.
DUTIES & ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: NOTE : The following are the duties performed by employees in this classification. However, employees may perform other related duties at an equivalent level. Not all duties listed are necessarily performed by each individual in the classification.
1.Performs standard supervisory functions, including, recruitment, hiring, on-boarding, training, coaching, mentoring, task assignment, performance evaluation, progressive discipline, conflict resolution and allocating staff resources.
2. Recognizes, evaluates, and corrects quality defects in ultrasound/X-ray/MRI/CT imaging.
3.Responsible for organizing and maintaining clean work area, equipment, and inventory.
4. Communicates organizational information to employees.
5. Plans for new technologies and replacement of existing equipment.
6. Ensures equipment meets State and Federal requirements.
7. Ensures equipment is safe for patient use.
8.Assist with development of Performance Improvement Project in each area of responsibility. Assists in the review & analysis of results. Supports action plans developed from analysis.
9.Prepares reports for Executives and the Board of Directors as needed.
10. Analyzes statistics and takes appropriate action as necessary.
11. Implements cost containment measures when applicable.
12. Implement revenue enhancement ideas.
13. Demonstrates effective time management.
14. Monitors compliance with all applicable external agency regulations.
15. Ensures compliance with all personnel to safety standards, Hazardous Materials Management program, Universal Precautions, and Infection Control.
16. Uses effective interviewing skills to hire qualified and compassionate staff.
17. Maintains budget and productivity accountability.
18. Maintains confidentiality of all patient and hospital related communications, documents, and records.
19. Performs required duties in accordance with prescribed hospital policies and procedures.
20. Maintains an awareness of Hazardous Materials and is compliant with safety and infection control policies.
21.Demonstrates active listening skills and treats all contacts with dignity and respect.
22. Accomplishes objectives within prescribed time frames by prioritizing and organizing workload.
23. Performs other duties as required.
Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities as well as possession of any required licenses or certifications is qualifying.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
High school diploma or GED required.
Associate degree (2-year) required, or must have a minimum of two (2) years of supervisory experience in Imaging Services
Preferred Education: Bachelor’s degree preferred.
Required Experience: Minimum of five (5) years of clinical experience performing a variety of imaging examinations
Required Licenses/Certifications: Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer Certificate from American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers OR
Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer Certificate from American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers OR
American Registry of Radiologic Technologists Certificate - Nuclear Medicine Technologist OR
Nuclear Medicine Technologist Certificate from Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board OR
American Registry of Radiologic Technologists Certificate - Mammography Technologist OR
American Registry of Radiologic Technologists Certificate - Magnetic Resonance Imaging OR
American Registry of Magnetic Resonance Imaging Technologists Certificate OR
American Registry of Radiologic Technologists Certificate - Radiography OR
