Job Details
Purpose

To be the point of contact for daily building operations-related issues and assist the Construction and Facilities Manager with the spaces in the George Í. Sanchez Building affiliated with the College of Education.

This position will include ensuring life safety and security measures, maintaining daily building operations, and overseeing general maintenance and repair tasks for the building and their integrated systems. The position monitors, coordinates, and provides operational support for all activities associated with the George Í. Sanchez Building. The Assistant Manager, Building Services will assist in collaboration with building occupants and various UT departments within the college. They will also coordinate inspections of spaces in SZB and report issues to appropriate university units for corrective action.

Responsibilities
  • Attend UT’s building manager meetings and monitor the COE Facilities email for incoming requests.
  • Conduct daily facilities walk throughs and report nonstandard conditions, inspect the building for signs of damage or wear issues, cosmetic projects and more. Check all SZB classrooms and conference rooms for cleanliness and operation for daily use.
  • Schedule regular building maintenance and janitorial services.
  • Plan and facilitate equipment and furniture moves.
  • Coordinate utility outages with occupants.
  • Ensure that all laboratories are following Environmental Health and Safety policies and
  • procedures.
  • Maintain Electronic Physical Security Systems (EPSS), AED’s, fire extinguishers and handle all emergency situations (medical, fire, evacuations, etc.) within established procedures.
  • Maintain emergency preparedness guide, evacuation plan, shelter in place locations, etc.
  • Manage key inventory, issue keys, collect keys, issue and maintain keypad codes, maintain
  • SZB EPSS access list.
  • Assist the Construction and Facilities Manager on construction projects by coordinating communication with faculty and staff.
  • Point of contact for campus facilities and maintenance crews. Enter service requests in the UT
  • service ticket system (WORKS) and report when work is completed.
  • Report emergent issues on evenings, weekends, and holidays to the Construction and Facilities
  • Manager.
  • Responsible for space inventory and maintenance of space records; including usage,
  • occupants, and capacity.
  • Report to the Construction and Facilities Manager regarding repair and maintenance of facilities and equipment.
  • Other related duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications

Associate's Degree in General Studies with at least 6 years of facilities maintenance work or related building operation services and a minimum of 2 years of supervisor experience.

Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience at the University of Texas or in a university setting. Demonstrated excellent communication skills. Demonstrated ability to follow verbal and written work instructions. Demonstrated ability to adhere to safety rules and regulations. Demonstrated ability to work as a team member. Demonstrated customer service skills.

Salary Range

$60,000 + depending on qualifications

Employment Eligibility

Retirement Plan Eligibility

The retirement plan for this position is Teacher Retirement System of Texas (TRS), subject to the position being at least 20 hours per week and at least 135 days in length.
