Job summary

The Venetian Resort Las Vegas is seeking an Assistant Manager – Aquatic Safety to support the management of our resort pool decks. This role ensures safety protocols, supervises lifeguards, and maintains high guest service standards while complying with SNHD regulations and resort policies.

Candidates should have a high school diploma (Bachelor’s preferred), 21+ years old, and hold CPR/AED/First Aid and Lifeguard certifications, with ability to obtain additional certifications within six months.

Position Overview

The primary responsibility of the Assistant Manager – Aquatic Safety is to assist Manager - Aquatic Safety in the management of for The Venetian Resort pool decks. The primary responsibility of the Assistant Manager – Aquatic Safety is to assist Manager - Aquatic Safety in the management of for The Venetian Resort pool decks. All duties are to be performed in accordance with departmental and The Venetian Resort’s policies, practices, and procedures.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Ensure and enforce safety practices of Team Members and Guests on all pool decks, assisting in the maintenance of proper emergency and safety procedures.
  • Oversee and ensure Lifeguards adhere to established work methods, techniques, schedules, and comply with applicable laws and regulations, Company and department policies, procedures, standards, and specifications. Reviews needs with appropriate management staff and allocates resources accordingly.
  • Monitor individual performance of direct reports and conduct performance appraisals to enhance skill sets.
  • Manage the hiring, training, and evaluation of Team Members to meet departmental standards and goals.
  • Assist pool leadership team in supervising and coaching all staff to maintain and exceed company’s pool operation standards.
  • Maintain high quality Guest service standards.
  • Ensure that Team Members’ certifications are current and meet Southern Nevada Health District (SNHD) requirements.
  • Ensure that the cleanliness of the pool decks is always maintained.
  • Delegate tasks and department assignments or projects, meeting deadlines related to those assignments.
  • Safety is an essential function of this job.
  • Consistent and regular attendance is an essential function of this job.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
Company Standards of Conduct

All The Venetian Resort Team Members are expected to conduct and carry themselves in a professional manner at all times. Team Members are required to observe the Company’s standards, work requirements and rules of conduct.

Minimum Qualifications
  • 21 years of age.
  • Proof of authorization/eligibility to work in the United States.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain an Alcohol Awareness (TAM) card, valid Nevada Driver’s License, Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and Lifeguard certification (American Red Cross or StarGuard Elite) and any other certification or license, as required by law or policy.
  • 5 years of experience in Aquatics within a resort hotel or similar environment preferred.
  • Ability to obtain Lifeguard Certification from American Red Cross or StarGuard Elite to include CPR / Automatic External Defibrillator (AED) and First Aid or Basic Life Support (BLS) and Basic First Aid
  • Ability to obtain American Red Cross Lifeguard Training Instructor or StarGuard Elite Lifeguard Instructor
  • Ability to obtain American Red Cross Lifeguard Management Certification or equivalent.
  • Ability to obtain the following certifications, within six (6) months of hire StarGuard Elite Lifeguard Certification, StarGuard Elite Instructor Certification Level 2 (must obtain instructor Level 1 prior to Level 2), and StarGuard Elite Supervisor Training.
  • Familiarity with SNHD regulations and protocols.
  • Cleaning and handling of cleaning chemicals.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in English, both in spoken and written form.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with guests and other Team Members of different backgrounds and levels of experience.
  • Must be able to work varied shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
Physical Requirements

Must be able to

  • Lift or carry 50 pounds, unassisted, in the performance of specific tasks, as assigned.
  • Physically access all areas of the property and drive areas with or without a reasonable accommodation.
  • Maintain composure under pressure and consistently meet deadlines with internal and external customers and contacts.
  • Ability to interact appropriately and effectively with guests, management, other team members, and outside contacts.
  • Ability for prolonged periods of time to walk, stand, stretch, bend, and kneel
  • Work in a fast-paced and busy environment.
  • Work indoors and be exposed to various environmental factors such as, but not limited to, CRT, noise, dust, and cigarette smoke.
