Job summary

Playa Bowls is seeking an Assistant Manager to lead daily store operations, train new staff, and resolve issues with a focus on guest satisfaction. You will work closely with the shop Manager to ensure smooth service in a fast-paced environment and uphold Playa Bowls values.

The role requires ServSafe familiarity, weekend availability, and a valid driver's license, with opportunities for development and a fun, energetic workplace.

Qualifications

• Must have previous managerial experience.
• Validated driver’s license is required.
• Team player with strong customer service mindset.
• Knowledge of supply chain and HR duties is a plus.
• Strong communication and active listening skills are essential.

Responsibilities

• Check products to ensure consistency, palatability, and quality.
• Investigate and resolve complaints regarding food quality, service, and accommodations.
• Schedule and receive deliveries, verify product quality and quantity.
• Monitor food prep methods, portions, garnishing, and presentation to standards.
• Schedule staff hours and assign duties for efficient operations.
• Review procedures to improve service, performance, or safety.
• Perform prep or service tasks as needed (prepping, clearing tables, serving).
• Maintain inventories and records of food and equipment.
• Ensure compliance with health and fire regulations in food prep and dining facilities.
• Order and purchase products, equipment, and supplies.
• Organize training programs and evaluate employees; recruit as needed (ADP WFN, ads, job fairs).
• Arrange equipment maintenance and waste/pest control services.
• Utilize POS, operate cash register, and make deposits.
• Maintain records, reports, and safety documentation.
• Adhere to opening/closing procedures and records.

Who You Are

You’re a positive and enthusiastic people-person, who may just so happen to have a passion for fruit, superfoods, and all things healthy! As the Assistant Manager, you will be working cohesively with the Manager of the shop performing a variety of tasks from training new employees to strategically resolving problems. What You’ll Do

• Check products to ensure consistency, palatability, and quality
• Investigate and resolve complaints regarding food quality, service, and accommodations
• Schedule and receive food and beverage deliveries, checking delivery contents to verify product quality and quantity
• Monitor food preparation methods, portion sizes, and garnishing and presentation of food to make sure it’s up to Company Standards
• Schedule staff hours utilizing appropriate systems/software and assign duties to ensure economical use of food and timely preparation
• Review work procedures and operational problems to determine ways to improve service, performance, or safety
• Perform some food preparation or service tasks such as prepping, clear tables and serving food and drinks when necessary
• Maintain food and equipment inventories and keep inventory records
• Monitor compliance with health and fire regulations regarding food preparation and serving, and building maintenance in lodging and dining facilities
• Order and purchase product, equipment, and supplies
• Organize and direct worker training programs, resolve personnel problems, and evaluate employee performancesAssess Team Member's needs, and recruit new hires using Company methods such as ADP WFN, advertisements, or attendance at job fairs
• Arrange for equipment maintenance and repairs, and coordinate a variety of services such as waste removal and pest control
• Utilize POS system, operate cash register and make bank deposits.
• Fill out business or government forms, maintain records, reports, or files and safety reports
• Adhere to company opening and closing procedures and maintain accompanying records
• Fill in for General Manager in the event of an extended absence

Requirements

• Must pass the ServSafe certification within 3 months of employment.
• Must be available to work weekends

Essential Physical Functions

• Must be able to remain in a stationary position for prolonged periods of time
• Must be able to lift or otherwise move 25-40 pounds occasionally
• Must be able to retrieve items from high and low shelving, the fridge/freezer, and under counters.
