Job description

DISTRICT FORE
Assistant General Manager / Assistant Manager

Location: Historic Third Ward – Milwaukee, Wisconsin
Position: Restaurant & Sports Bar Management

ABOUT DISTRICT FORE

District Fore is not your average sports bar. Located in Milwaukee’s Historic Third Ward, District Fore combines an elevated sports bar experience with a scratch kitchen, creative cocktail program, indoor golf simulators, electronic darts, and an energetic atmosphere built around sports, entertainment, and hospitality.

From Packers game days and Brewers playoff runs to major college sporting events, District Fore is a destination where guests come for more than just food and drinks. They come for an experience.

We are looking for an energetic, passionate, hands‑on Assistant Manager who thrives in a fast‑paced environment, leads by example, and understands what it takes to deliver exceptional hospitality during both everyday operations and high‑volume, high‑profile sporting events.

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE

We are not looking for someone who simply manages a shift. We are looking for a leader who takes ownership, sets the pace, motivates a team, and understands that great hospitality starts with management.

The ideal candidate possesses:

  • Strong Bar Knowledge: A solid understanding of liquor, beer, wine, craft cocktails, bar operations, inventory control, responsible alcohol service, and the ability to coach bartenders to deliver quality and consistency.
  • Guest-First Mentality: A genuine passion for hospitality, building relationships, anticipating guest needs, resolving concerns, and creating experiences that turn first‑time visitors into loyal regulars.
  • High Energy and Positive Attitude: Someone who brings enthusiasm to every shift, thrives in an exciting sports bar atmosphere, and maintains a positive presence even during the busiest and most demanding moments.
  • Exceptional Work Ethic: A leader who isn’t afraid to roll up their sleeves, work alongside their team, and do whatever is necessary to deliver an outstanding guest experience.
  • High-Volume Sports Bar Experience: The ability to manage a packed restaurant during Packers games, Brewers playoff games, March Madness, major sporting events, and other highly publicized occasions when expectations, emotions, and guest traffic are at their highest.
  • Strong Leadership Skills: Someone who holds employees accountable, communicates clearly, coaches in real time, and creates an environment built around teamwork, respect, and performance.
  • Operational Awareness: The ability to recognize potential issues before they become problems, make quick decisions, and balance speed, quality, service, and profitability.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Guest Experience & Hospitality
  • Maintain a highly visible presence on the floor, actively engaging with guests throughout each shift.
  • Build lasting relationships with regular guests while creating memorable experiences for new visitors.
  • Address guest concerns immediately, professionally, and with a genuine commitment to guest satisfaction.
  • Ensure service standards remain consistent regardless of business volume.
  • Create an atmosphere that is welcoming, exciting, and reflective of the District Fore brand.
Bar Operations & Beverage Leadership
  • Demonstrate strong working knowledge of spirits, beer, wine, cocktails, and beverage service.
  • Support bartenders with product knowledge, cocktail execution, speed, and presentation.
  • Monitor beverage quality, consistency, pour costs, waste, and inventory controls.
  • Help develop beverage promotions, signature cocktails, and special event offerings.
  • Maintain organized, clean, fully stocked, and efficient bar operations.
  • Ensure responsible alcohol service and compliance with all applicable regulations.
High-Volume Game Day Execution
  • Lead front‑of‑house operations during major sporting events, including Packers games, Brewers games, NFL Sundays, college football, March Madness, and playoff events.
  • Anticipate guest volume and assist in developing effective staffing and operational plans.
  • Manage wait times, seating flow, service execution, and guest expectations during peak periods.
  • Coordinate communication between bartenders, servers, hosts, support staff, and kitchen leadership.
  • Maintain composure, urgency, and strong decision‑making when the restaurant is operating at maximum capacity.
  • Understand the importance of the sports viewing experience, including television programming, sound, atmosphere, and special event execution.
  • Turn high‑volume sporting events into opportunities to drive revenue, guest loyalty, and repeat business.
Team Leadership & Development
  • Lead by example through professionalism, urgency, teamwork, and a strong work ethic.
  • Train, coach, motivate, and develop front‑of‑house team members.
  • Establish clear expectations and hold employees accountable for performance and service standards.
  • Foster a positive, energetic, and supportive workplace culture.
  • Assist with scheduling, labor management, shift assignments, and daily operational planning.
  • Provide real‑time coaching and feedback to improve service execution.
  • Be willing to jump behind the bar, run food, assist hosts, clear tables, or support any position when business demands it.
Financial & Operational Performance
  • Assist the General Manager in achieving sales, labor, beverage cost, and profitability goals.
  • Monitor daily sales performance and identify opportunities to increase revenue.
  • Drive suggestive selling, beverage promotions, and guest engagement.
  • Ensure opening, closing, cleaning, and side‑work standards are consistently executed.
  • Maintain accountability for cash handling, POS procedures, inventory, and operational controls.
  • Support private events, group reservations, golf simulator bookings, and entertainment programming.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Previous restaurant or bar management experience strongly preferred.
  • Experience in a high‑volume sports bar, restaurant, entertainment venue, or nightlife environment highly desirable.
  • Strong knowledge of bar operations, beverage products, and hospitality standards.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead teams under pressure.
  • Excellent communication, organization, and problem‑solving skills.
  • Comfortable working in a fast‑paced, guest‑focused environment.
  • Ability to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and major sporting events.
  • Familiarity with restaurant POS systems, scheduling, labor management, and inventory controls is a plus.
  • A hands‑on leadership style and a genuine passion for hospitality are essential.
WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE

At District Fore, success isn’t measured by simply getting through a shift.

Success means:

  • Guests leave wanting to return.
  • The team is energized, supported, and held accountable.
  • Bar and food service remain fast, accurate, and consistent.
  • Major game days run smoothly, even when the building is packed.
  • Sales grow through exceptional hospitality and smart operational decisions.
  • The restaurant is clean, organized, and prepared for the next shift.
  • Management leads from the floor, not from behind a desk.
OUR EXPECTATIONS

We want a leader who brings energy, not excuses.

Someone who sees a packed sports bar as an opportunity rather than an obstacle. Someone who understands that the busiest days are when great leadership matters most.

We believe in working hard, having fun, taking care of our guests, supporting our teammates, and creating an environment that people are excited to be part of.

If you have a passion for sports, strong bar knowledge, a genuine love of hospitality, and the drive to lead a team through the excitement and challenges of a high‑volume sports bar, we want to hear from you.

District Fore — Great Sports. Great Hospitality. Great Experiences.
