Job summary

CommunityAid in Hanover, PA is seeking an Assistant Store Manager to lead daily operations, drive profitability, and ensure a positive experience for employees, customers, and donors. Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • Associate or bachelor’s degree related to business management preferred.
  • Minimum of one-year experience in a supervisory role within a comparable production, retail, or service-oriented business preferred.
  • Experience effectively managing in a fast-paced, professional work environment.
  • The ability to properly handle and maintain confidential information.
  • Flexibility with scheduling and availability to work evenings and weekends on a regular basis.
  • Proficient in reading, writing, and speaking English.
  • Must have a valid Driver’s License.
  • Must be eligible to work in the U.S without sponsorship.
  • Adherence to consistent attendance and weekly hours expectations based on full-time exempt status.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor product quality and presentation standards.
  • Conduct daily floor or warehouse walks and share insights with Store Management.
  • Track operational metrics and collaborate with teams to meet established standards.
  • Ensure product flow from the Donation Door to the sales floor is timely and in compliance with company expectations.
  • Oversee Associates and/or supervisors within assigned departments.
  • Conduct weekly or as needed one-on-one meetings with team members.
  • Evaluates potential candidates for cultural alignment and position fit while being engaged in the hiring process.
  • Support trainers in providing consistent training in roles, policies, procedures, and best practices.
  • Collaborates with the Operations Manager to ensure proper staffing levels in adherence with the labor model, including cross-training.
  • Communicate performance expectations and best practices, provide coaching, and utilize existing performance management tools to fully engage employees.
  • Assist with performance management, documentation, and annual reviews.
  • Promotes employee engagement through regular huddles and team meetings, one-on-one check-ins, special events, and prioritizing employee recognition.
  • Ensures compliance with all applicable state and federal laws, as well as CommunityAid policies and procedures, and ensures these are clearly communicated and followed by the Associates.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized environment for employees, customers, and donors.
  • Identify and resolve safety risks promptly.
  • Report incidents and near misses through required platforms.
  • Performs additional duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Store Manager.
  • Provides support for other departments as needed or directed by the Store Manager. This position takes responsibility for the overall function of the store when other store management is not present

PURPOSE OF THE ROLE

The Assistant Store Manager is a vital key leader within the CommunityAid store. They provide oversight to support daily operations, drive retail profitability, and ensure a positive experience for employees, customers, and donors. This position will also set expectations for the proper execution of policies and procedures and respond appropriately to employee performance – all in a manner consistent with our Mission and Values. The Assistant Store Manager may also serve as the acting Store Manager when the Store Manager is not present.

KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY
Operational Oversight
