Position: Assistant Store Manager

Position Summary

The Assistant Store Manager is knowledgeable of all aspects of the store and assumes full responsibility in the absence of the Store Manager. Duties include management functions such as purchasing, budgeting, accounting, personnel work, and supervising store associates. The role is a training position to become a Store Manager.

Essential Functions

• Provide excellent customer service, greet and assist customers, handle inquiries and complaints professionally.
• Monitor sales activities to ensure quality service and goods.
• Assign duties to employees and supervise their activities.
• Manage inventory, keep purchase and sales records, and reorder stock as needed.
• Enforce safety, health, and security rules.
• Hire, train, evaluate, and discipline personnel.
• Perform and oversee store operations including merchandising, pricing, scheduling, and financial reporting.
• Assist in recruiting, training, and evaluating staff.
• Develop policies, goals, and procedures for the department.
• Handle customer complaints and ensure store presentation standards.
• Assist in controlling expenses and maintaining store property.
• Support store manager in all operational tasks and staff management.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED.
• No prior experience necessary.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and basic computer skills.
• Must have access to a phone and be able to perform basic math calculations.

Physical Demands

Frequent standing, walking, sitting, handling, reaching, and bending. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs occasionally. Vision, hearing, and touch required. Ability to wear PPE as needed.

Work Environment

Grocery store setting with typical retail environment conditions.
