Job summary

Construction Resources in Charleston, SC is seeking an Assistant Manager to run the warehouse and sales floor, manage order processing, inventory, slab handling, and transfers with a focus on accuracy and great customer experience.

The role reports to the Branch Manager and requires leading a team to meet monthly and annual sales objectives while upholding safety and efficient operations in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business management or equivalent; or 3 years’ industry experience.
  • Must be available to work +40 hours as needed including nights and weekends.
  • Must provide direct feedback to support transparent operations.
  • Positive attitude and high energy with strong interpersonal skills.
  • High integrity and confidentiality of branch information.
  • Ability to lead and participate in critical conversations to improve operations.
  • Goal-oriented; can lead processes to achieve great customer experience.
  • Experience in recruiting, coaching, training, and leading a branch or showroom sales team.

Responsibilities

  • Support a safety-first culture by role modeling safety.
  • Introduce and implement new procedures and policies within branch.
  • Execute daily, weekly, and monthly branch tasks and procedures.
  • Ensure efficient delivery routes and cost effectiveness.
  • Maintain integrity of cut slab and inventory programs.
  • Oversee return slab process and procedures.
  • Drive team to achieve sales and revenue goals.
  • Maintain accuracy of physical inventory.
  • Assist escalated customer requests as needed.
  • Communicate across all levels to improve operational efficiencies.
  • Lead training and development of staff for seamless daily operations.
  • Manage inbound/outbound inventory and transfers with accountability.
  • Input purchase requests and coordinate material delivery with real-time confirmation.
  • Support extended shifts, evenings, and rotating Saturdays as needed.
  • Balance branch opening/closing with other management.

Job description

POSITION OVERVIEW

The Assistant Manager will be responsible for the management of the warehouse and sales floor as it relates to order processing, inventory, slab management and oversee and maintain the integrity and accuracy of the physical inventory, inner/outer company transfers, and driving team to achieve annual and monthly sales/revenue goals.

This role reports directly to the Branch Manager and is accountable for the safety, sales, and operational execution of all processes and procedures. Have a clear outline of measurable operational tasks and functions to ensure all daily tasks are being met with the outcome of creating a great customer experience.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Support a safety-first culture by role modeling safety.
  • Introduce and implement new procedures and policies within branch.
  • Daily, weekly and monthly execution and follow up on branch task and procedures in the below areas:
  • Delivery Execution through proactive execution of IMS delivery tab
  • Effective, efficient execution of delivery routes to support a great customer experience while maintaining cost effectiveness.
  • Execution and accountability of the cut slab processing and inventory integrity of the cut slab program.
  • Execution and accountability of the return slab process and procedure.
  • Drive team to achieve annual and monthly sales/revenue goal
  • Oversee and maintain the integrity and accuracy of the physical inventory
  • Active involvement with escalated customer request as needed
  • Execution of the damaged material identification in IMS, photo upload of damaged material to server for web photo to support accuracy and sell through of slabs
  • Execution and accountability for effective communication to all levels of the company to execute operational efficiencies: This includes directcommunication to branch management, customer service, warehouse personnel and inside / outside sales teams.
  • Engage in daily/weekly activities focused around training employees, and the development of business operations leading to a seamless operation every day.
  • Manage the inventory processes on both inbound and outbound material to include taking full accountability of execution of all transfer delivery and inbound transfer inventory.
  • Support selling process by both inputting purchase requests and scheduling material delivery along with real time delivery confirmation execution.
  • Executes and supports the rotational monthly schedule in working extended daily shifts, evenings, and rotational Saturdays when needed to support branch operations and sales.
  • In balancing branch operations of opening and closing shift, the operational trainee will be able to support opening and closing the branch operation in rotation with other members of the management team.
QUALIFICATIONS AND DESIRED ATTRIBUTES
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business management or equivalent; or 3 years’ industry experience
  • Must be available to work +40 hours as needed based on business / customer demands including nights and weekends.
  • Must be able to accept and provide straight forward feedback to build alignment with management to support a transparent business environment.

  • Must have experience in recruiting, coaching, training, and leading a branch or retail showroom sales team
  • Ability to motivate, lead, and develop staff

  • The ability to communicate effectively with clients and internal employees (staff and skilled personnel)
  • Minimum customer service experience of two years
  • Willingness to learn and to adapt to change
  • Ability to prioritize and multi-task
  • Detail oriented and well organized
WORK ENVIROMENT/ PHYSICAL DEMANDS
  • Ability to work inside and outside in both climate controlled and non-climate-controlled environments.
  • Ability to work a demanding schedule to support operational execution of the branch business that leads to a great customer experience.
  • Safely lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Operate power equipment such as forklift, overhead crane, lift crane, pallet jack
  • Execute great customer experience through listening intently, making sound business decisions and responding quickly to customer concerns
