Summary
The Assistant Manager supports the Assistant General Manager & General Manager in the daily responsibilities required to keep the business running smoothly. The Assistant Manager directs employees and ensures that work is being completed in a timely and effective manner.
Responsibilities
- Ensure that Shift Leaders and Team Members perform their responsibilities and meet expectations in all areas of their job.
- Follow the steps outlined in the DHC Training Program to learn and train new skills, duties, and responsibilities.
- Communicate with supervisors when additional training or guidance is needed.
- Conduct and ensure completion of Ops Walks and Q&A checks to address areas of opportunity.
- Organize shift schedules, monitor attendance, tardiness, and time off.
- Assign duties based on role and skills.
- Understand how each responsibility impacts guests, employees, and restaurant operations.
- Ensure restaurant cleanliness through daily tasks like clearing tables, cleaning floors, sanitizing utensils, and servicing restrooms.
- Handle guest concerns professionally and calmly, resolving issues per restaurant policy.
- Maintain a professional appearance by adhering to uniform policies.
- Drive performance and team morale by providing supervision, feedback, and addressing performance issues.
- Train, schedule, and manage employees’ daily tasks.
- Balance cash drawers and prepare deposits as directed.
- Assist the management team as needed and enforce company rules and policies.
- Support the restaurant’s business plan by effectively planning and organizing daily routines.
- Complete administrative duties and paperwork, including checklists.
- Supervise opening and closing activities as directed.
- Foster an environment of trust and open communication.
- Model positive behavior and uphold personnel practices.
- Follow food and cash control guidelines to minimize costs.
- Ensure all team members adhere to policies and support management decisions.
- Contribute to the restaurant’s success by consistently accomplishing shift tasks.
- Communicate effectively to resolve interpersonal issues.
Requirements
- Current student or high school diploma/GED preferred.
- Must be at least 18 years old and fluent in English.
- Certified in all stations following the DHC Training Program.
- Flexible to work nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Ability to stand long periods and work in a fast-paced environment.
- Positive attitude and commitment to guest satisfaction.
- Effective communication skills with co-workers and management.
- Reliable transportation, driver’s license, and proof of insurance.
- Availability to work flexible hours including opening and closing shifts, nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Ability to lift 50-75 lbs., stand for long periods, and work around heat and in close quarters.
