Job summary

Toot ’n Totum is seeking an Assistant TNT Store Manager (ASM) to support day-to-day operations and ensure exceptional guest service while assisting store management in maintaining cleanliness and safety.

You will supervise team members, handle scheduling and payroll, ensure policy compliance, and contribute to a positive guest experience. Irregular hours and weekends required; prior retail experience is preferred.

Job description

Summary:

The Assistant TNT Store Manager (ASM) is responsible for assisting in the day-to-day operations of the Toot ‘n Totum convenience store while providing exceptional Guest service; working to ensure each Guests’ visit is a pleasant, convenient and enjoyable experience. The Assistant Store Manager serves each Guest in a polite, courteous and professional manner while also assisting store management in maintaining the cleanliness and safety of the store.

Supervisory Responsibilities:
  • Support the Store Manager in recruiting, supervising, training, and motivating team members to ensure high performance and excellent Guest service.
  • Conduct daily shifts, delegating tasks and overseeing team member responsibilities.
  • Monitor team member compliance with store policies, procedures, and safety regulations.
  • Assist the Store Manager with administrative tasks such as scheduling, payroll, and performance reviews.
  • Manage all duties when the Store Manager is absent.
  • Open and close the store in the absence of the Store Manager, ensuring all operational procedures are followed.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Greet Guests upon entering the store and thank them for their business upon exit.
  • Promote fuel discount program, specials, and promotional offers as determined by operations leadership.
  • Maintain cleanliness & appearance inside the store; including restrooms, trashcans, doors & windows, floors, rugs, counters & office areas, merchandise shelving, food service areas and beverage bars areas.
  • Maintain cleanliness & appearance outside the store; including entrances, parking lots, trashcans, doors & windows, porches & sidewalks, fuel islands & valets.
  • Perform basic merchandising to include stocking, fronting & facing merchandise on shelves and in coolers, stocking beverage bar areas, bagging ice, brewing coffee & tea at assigned intervals, stocking lottery supplies & tobacco/vape products.
  • Follow the Daily Task Sheets (DTS) to ensure all duties are completed as assigned.
  • Remove stale-dated merchandise.
  • Complete required reports on Dashboard (safe and lottery audits, cup and cigarette rollups) timely and accurately.
  • Control inventory and protect Company assets according to policies; follow proper policies on all age-restricted merchandise.
  • Perform fuel price changes and assist in monitoring competition.
  • Check-in vendors and receive fuel deliveries.
  • Operate Point-of-Sale, lottery, phone & money order equipment.
  • Support high levels of Guest satisfaction by addressing Guest concerns and resolving complaints effectively.
  • Ensure the store is secure and follows all health, safety, and environmental regulations.
  • Participate and support in-store promotions and marketing activities.
  • Oversee inventory management, including receiving deliveries, checking for accuracy, and organizing merchandise.
  • Support the Store Manager in ensuring proper cash handling procedures, including cash register operations, deposits, daily sales reporting, and maintaining accurate financial records.
  • Report maintenance issues and report Guest incidents and team member injuries appropriately.
  • Support and facilitate organizational changes, continuous improvement and communication.

Education & Experience:
  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Previous work experience within a retail convenience store environment preferred.
Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to stand, walk, sit, talk/hear, push/pull, climb, bend/stoop, crouch/kneel/crawl, taste/smell, balance, twist/reach, carry, grasp with hands, squat, drive and use keyboard.
  • Lifting Requirements: Lift/pull up to 50lbs. daily.
  • Hearing Requirements: Ability to hear alarms, communication equipment, verbal instructions, and machinery
  • Cognitive Requirements: Basic reading, writing and math skills. Basic speech skills; must be able to speak, read, write & understand the English language, clerical tasks, memorization, analytical skills, function under stress & make independent decisions.
  • Vision Requirements: General vision requirements in addition to close vision (<20 inches), Distance Vision (>20 feet), color vision and peripheral vision.
  • Noise Levels: Normal (<85dB) noise levels.
  • Repetitive Motion(s): Regularly & repetitively use both feet and both hands.
  • Environmental Factors: General working conditions include wet/humid/steam conditions not created by weather, slippery floors, hot grease, working with mechanical parts and machinery including machinery that contains moving parts, toxic/caustic chemicals, concentrated soaps & cleaning solutions, asbestos exposure, outdoor weather conditions, extreme heat/cold, confined areas, pressurized equipment, Oxygen/Acetylene, Cylinders, CO2 Cylinders, electrical equipment, vibration, possible flying debris, flashing/strobing lighting and work around vehicles in motion.
