Job summary

Highmark Residential, LLC is seeking an Assistant Maintenance Supervisor for a 450+ unit community in Tucson. The role supports the Service Manager, supervises maintenance staff, and ensures timely completion of resident work orders while maintaining safety standards.

Responsibilities include supervising technicians, coordinating contractors, managing inventory, and leading preventive maintenance programs to uphold property quality and resident satisfaction.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 3 years of experience in make-ready and on-site apartment maintenance.
• Must have average written and oral communication skills in English.
• Bilingual in Spanish a plus.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Service Manager in maintenance tasks and supervise staff to keep community areas well maintained.
• Manage inventory levels and coordinate with contractors; monitor pricing of supplies.
• Lead safety training and ensure compliance with SDS and OSHA standards.
• Track resident work orders (Yardi) and ensure 24-hour completion; inspect vacant units.

Responsibilities

This is what you will do:

• Assists the Service Manager in all maintenance related tasks:
  • Supervising maintenance staff and ensure all areas of the community are maintained.
  • Supervises proper levels of inventory, as needed with approval
  • Assist with contractors and become knowledgeable of competitive pricing of supplies
  • Implementing, and supervising training program for the use of safety equipment in keeping with SDS
  • Tracking, monitoring and following up on resident work orders in Yardi to ensure requests are completed within 24 hours
  • Apartment inspections and walk through check list on all vacant units
• Must be able to lead and mentor the maintenance staff by assisting with skill development and knowledge
• Assist by leading the maintenance staff by example
• Responds to emergency calls thru the on‑call monitoring service per policy
• Makes general appliance repairs, carpet repairs, A/C repairs and electrical repairs
• Performs carpentry work, welding, painting and plumbing duties as required
• Moves appliances, with assistance, using appliance Dolly
• Installs appliance and electrical fixtures as required
• Reports any maintenance problems and ensure repairs are correctly completed in a timely manner
• Lead and/or participates in an ongoing community preventive maintenance program
• Adheres to and complies with company safety policies and rules and OSHA safety standards that are applicable for the safe performance of the jobs
• Participate in training program for the use of safety equipment in keeping with SDS
• Assists Team in achieving positive Satisfacts reports by providing professional and courteous customer service.
• Assists with resident functions as required
• Maintains courteous and helpful demeanor with resident, prospective residents, co‑workers, vendors, etc.
• Works on‑call, overtime, weekends, holiday and evening work as required
• Must have mode of communication in which to be contacted at home and to respond in cases of emergency
• May be transferred or assigned to work at another Highmark Community
• Complies with all policies as outlined in the Operations Manual
• Adheres to company key procedures
• Maintains a clean and orderly shop
• Performs other duties as assigned by Service Manager (Community Director and/or Assistant Community Director in Service Manager’s absence)
