Job summary

CONAM Management Corporation is seeking an Assistant Maintenance Supervisor for Serenade on 43rd in San Diego, CA. The role supports the Maintenance Supervisor and the apartment community team to keep buildings, grounds, and amenities safe, clean, and functional.

The position is full-time with full benefits and an hourly pay range of $24–$25, plus on-site housing (2-bedroom unit) required for on-site living.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years hands-on apartment maintenance experience.
• Proficiency in plumbing, electrical systems, HVAC, appliance repair, and carpentry.
• Strong troubleshooting and communication skills.
• Willingness to work a flexible schedule and participate in on-call rotation.
• Valid driver’s license and reliable vehicle insurance.

Responsibilities

• Assist Maintenance Supervisor to coach the maintenance team and monitor performance.
• Help train staff on maintenance, safety, and customer service procedures.
• Assist with annual budget and bid recommendations.
• Ensure compliance with state laws and CONAM policies.
• Perform preventative maintenance on equipment and systems.
• Participate in on-call emergency maintenance as needed.
• Drive locally for property management maintenance needs.
• Other duties as assigned.

Assistant Maintenance Supervisor - Serenade on 43rd | San Diego, CA

What We Are Looking For:
We are seeking a skilled Assistant Maintenance Supervisor to join our team at Serenade on 43rd in San Diego, CA. As part of our maintenance team, you'll play a crucial role by assisting with overseeing apartment community maintenance and performs technical and mechanical work that ensures the inside and external buildings, grounds, amenities, and common areas of the community meet CONAM’s standards for cleanliness, appearance, safety, and overall functionality.

This is a full-time position with full benefits. Pay range: $24 - $25/hour, plus 100% housing (2-bedroom unit, on-site living required)

Key Responsibilities:

• Work with Maintenance Supervisor to coach the maintenance team and monitor the team’s performance against community goals.
• Assist in training the maintenance team staff on maintenance, safety and customer service procedures.
• Assist Maintenance Supervisor with annual budget and making recommendations on bids
• Adhere to and enforce compliance of all state law regulations and CONAM policies and procedures relating to the apartment community
• Perform and oversee routine preventative maintenance on equipment and systems
• Participate in an on-call rotation to provide after-hours emergency maintenance services as needed.
• Ensure compliance with safety regulations and operational standards in all maintenance activities.
• Ability to drive locally for business purposes pertaining to property management maintenance.
• Other duties as assigned.

Who You Are: (Requirements of the Position)

• Experience: Minimum of 2 years of hands-on experience in apartment maintenance or equivalent, including proficiency in plumbing, electrical systems, HVAC, appliance repair, and general carpentry.
• Technical Skills: Ability to operate and maintain various hand tools and power equipment, such as drills, saws, grinders, electrical testers, HVAC systems, and plumbing tools.
• Problem-Solving Skills: Strong troubleshooting abilities to quickly assess and resolve maintenance issues, ensuring minimal disruption to residents.
• Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills to interact with residents, team members, and vendors effectively.
• Customer Focus: A passion for delivering exceptional service to residents and creating a positive living experience.
• Flexibility: Willingness to work a flexible schedule and participate in an on-call rotation to handle apartment maintenance emergencies.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
• Possess a valid driver’s license and proof of automobile liability insurance coverage.
