ASSISTANT MAINTENANCE MANAGER

Are you a hands‑on maintenance professional who knows how to lead a team, solve problems, and keep a property operating at its best?
We are looking for an experienced Assistant Maintenance Manager to join our hotel engineering team. This is a great opportunity for an experienced maintenance professional ready to take the next step in leadership while remaining hands‑on with day‑to‑day hotel operations.

WHAT YOU'LL DO
- Help lead, train, schedule, supervise, and develop maintenance team members
- Inspect the hotel, equipment, and grounds to identify repairs and preventive maintenance needs
- Prioritize work orders and ensure repairs are completed safely, professionally, and efficiently
- Perform and oversee general building maintenance, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, carpentry, and equipment repairs
- Support preventive maintenance programs and Life Safety/Fire Alarm system testing
- Conduct routine hotel, fire, and safety inspections
- Assist with fire drills, emergency response, and building safety procedures
- Work with contractors, vendors, suppliers, and technical support providers
- Assist with maintenance budgeting, cost estimates, purchasing, and capital planning
- Monitor energy and utility usage to help maintain efficient hotel operations
- Maintain maintenance records, repair costs, operating statistics, and preventive maintenance documentation
- Respond to guest concerns professionally and help ensure an outstanding guest experience
- Step in and work alongside the maintenance team whenever needed.

Qualifications: WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
Education & Experience
- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent work experience
- Minimum 1–2 years of supervisory and maintenance experience
- Strong hands‑on maintenance skills and mechanical aptitude
- Knowledge of general building maintenance, HVAC, plumbing, electrical systems, and carpentry
- Experience with modern building controls and major facility maintenance
- Strong troubleshooting and problem‑solving skills
- Journeyman‑level ability with common maintenance tools and equipment
- Computer skills required
- Microsoft Office experience preferred
- Hotel systems experience, including MICROS, preferred
- Strong written and verbal English communication skills

PHYSICAL & WORK ENVIRONMENT
This is an active, hands‑on position. Candidates must be able to:
- Lift and transport at least 50 pounds
- Push or pull carts and equipment weighing up to 150 pounds
- Stand and maintain well‑paced mobility for extended periods
- Work on stepladders and throughout all areas of the hotel
- Work indoors and outdoors under varying temperatures and noise levels
- Work around dust, fumes, odors, and chemicals associated with hotel maintenance operations
- Communicate effectively with guests, managers, team members, vendors, and contractors
