Job summary

Sinai Post Acute Nursing & Rehab in Newark, NJ is seeking an Assistant Maintenance Director to support the Maintenance Director in daily oversight of the facility's physical plant. This role blends hands-on technical work with administrative supervision to ensure safety, reliability, and regulatory compliance.

You will lead the maintenance team, coordinate work orders, manage inventory, and be on call for emergencies, ensuring a Resident First approach and high-quality care environment.

Qualifications

• High School degree or equivalent required.
• 1-2 years of supervisory or assistant management experience preferred.
• Strong leadership and teamwork capabilities.

Responsibilities

• Lead in partnership with the Maintenance Director to supervise the department and ensure repairs are completed efficiently.
• Maintain building and grounds in a clean, safe, functional condition; identify improvement areas.
• Perform hands-on repairs in plumbing, electrical, carpentry, HVAC, and masonry.
• Assist in maintaining fire alarm, generator, and sprinkler systems; document safety checks.
• Assist in assigning tasks, scheduling staff, and onboarding new maintenance staff.
• Step in for Maintenance Director during their absence.
• Monitor tool inventory and manage replenishments.
• Be on-call 24 hours for emergencies as part of the duty rotation.
• Maintain a resident-first approach respecting privacy and rights.
